CHAPTER 183-2
“I understand why you’re angry.” He said.
“I am more than angry.” I said.
“I know.” He said as I looked at him.
“I want him stopped.” I said.
“So do I.” He said.
“Then why does it feel like we are always one step behind?” I asked.
“Because Victor wants you to think that.” He said and I frowned so Jace continued.

“He wants us angry, and he wants us reckless because reckless people make mistakes.” He said and I crossed my arms.
“You think he is waiting for us to retaliate.” I said.
“I know he is.” He said and he paused.
“Patience wins wars, Paige.” He added and I looked at him,'”
“Did you just quote yourself?” I asked and he smiled.
“Maybe.” He said and despite everything, I laughed.
“You’re impossible.” I said.
“And you’re still angry.” He said.
“Yes.” I said.
“That’s fine.” He said as he reached for my hand.
“You can be angry, but you don’t have to let anger make decisions for you.” He said as I looked down at our hands.
He was right. I hated that he was right, but he was.
The Iron Vipers had spent weeks reacting to Victor’s moves, and every time we rushed to protect ourselves, he found another way to make us look in the wrong direction.
Maybe the only way to beat him was to stop playing his game.
“I will be patient.” I said as Jace smiled.
“That is all I’m asking.” He said.
The rest of the afternoon returned to normal. At least, as normal as things could be.

space in the workshop.
Ben and Aiden worked through a complicated restoration while Mia kept the office moving.
I tried to focus on the motorcycles in front of me, but my mind kept returning to Sarah’s words.
The evidence matched previous Black Reaper attacks.
That meant Victor was leaving a trail. The problem was finding where that trail led.
Later that evening, Jace and I returned to the clubhouse.
Ethan was already in the office with Owen, and several folders were spread across the table.
“What are you working on?” I asked as Ethan looked up.
“Financial records.” Ethan said as Jace walked closer.
“Anything new?” Jace asked.
“Not yet.” Ethan said as Owen shook his head.
“We’re still tracking the suspicious companies.” Owen said and I looked at the folders.
“Blackstone Logistics?” I asked.
“Still active.” Ethan said.
“And Vanessa Reed?” I asked.
“Still connected.” Ethan said as I frowned.
“Has anyone found her?” I asked.
“Not yet.” He said.
The room became quiet and Ethan suddenly looked at his laptop.
“Wait.” He said as Jace immediately turned.
“What?” I asked.
す
“I just got another transaction alert.” Ethan said as my stomach tightened.
“From where?” I asked and Ethan began typing rapidly.
“This one is different.” He said as Owen moved closer.
“How different?” Owen asked.
“It’s larger than the previous transfers.” Ethan said and Jace looked over his shoulder.
“Where’s it going?” Jace asked and Ethan stared at the screen.
“That’s the problem.” Ethan said as he clicked through several records.

The receiving account belongs to a company that doesn’t appear anywhere in our previous investigation.” He added as stepped closer.
“What company?” I asked as Ethan looked at me.
“Redwood Holdings.” He said.
“Who owns it?” I asked.
“I’m checking now.” He said as the screen refreshed and Ethan’s expression changed.
