Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 331
CHAPTER 184-2
“I can tell.” He said.
Later that morning, Diesel positioned himself beside the front door and watched everyone who entered and Aiden walked past him carrying a box.
“Move, boss.” Aiden said as Diesel looked up but refused to move so Aiden stepped around him.
“He really thinks he runs this place.” Aiden said.
“He does.” Mia called from the office and I smiled.
“He just lets me handle the paperwork.” I said.
The workshop stayed busy throughout the afternoon, but nobody complained.
Ben was becoming more confident with every job, and Aiden continued challenging him rather than simply doing difficult work himself.
Mia’ kept the schedule moving, and somehow she managed to fit another customer into a day that already looked impossible and I watched her for a moment.
“How do you keep doing that?” I asked as she looked up.
“Doing what?” She asked.
“Making everything fit.” I asked.
“I panic quietly and organize loudly.” She said and I laughed.
“That explains a lot.” I said.
By late afternoon, I realized I had barely thought about Victor.
The warehouse fire was still in the back of my mind, and the investigation was still important, but for several hours, motorcycles and customers had been more important.
That realization surprised me.
For months, it felt like every part of my life had been connected to the war with Victor. Every phone call could be a warning. Every unfamiliar vehicle could be surveillance. Every strange message could mean another attack.
Yet people were still coming into Lawson Customs because their motorcycles needed repairs.
They still complained about prices. They still told stupid jokes. They still brought cookies and they still asked when their motorcycles would be ready.
Life continued.
It didn’t stop simply because someone wanted to hurt us.
I stepped outside for a few minutes and looked across the busy workshop.
CHAPTER 1842.
Ben was explaining something to a customer, Alden was working on a restoration, Mia was answering the phone, and Diesel was sitting near the entrance watching everyone.
I smiled.
This was my life.
It was messy. It was exhausting. It was sometimes terrifying. It was also mine.
Jace arrived near closing time, and he stood beside me while watching the workshop.
“Busy day?” Jace asked.
“You could say that.” I said as he looked around.
“Everyone seems happy.” He said.
“They are.” I said and he smiled.
“That matters.” He said.
“It does.” I said and he put an arm around me.
“You okay?” He asked as I leaned against him.
“I think I am.” I said.
“That sounds uncertain.” He said.
“I realized something today.” I said.
“What?” He asked.
“The world doesn’t stop because Victor is trying to destroy it.” I said and Jace nodded.
“You’re right.” He said.
“I still hate what he’s doing.” I said.
“So do I.” He said.
“But I don’t want him to take every normal day away from me.” I said and Jace kissed my forehead.
“He won’t.” He said.
Before I could answer, headlights appeared in the parking lot and a familiar vehicle pulled toward the
entrance.
I recognized it immediately and my father stepped out.
Charles walked into the workshop carrying a folder, and Diesel greeted him with a wagging tail.
“Hello, everyone.” He said and Ben smiled.
“Hey, Charles.” Ben said as Charles looked around.
CHAPTER 1842-
“You’re all still working.” He said.
“We’re always working.” Mia replied as Charles laughed.
“I can see that.” Charles said before he turned toward me.
“Paige, do you have a minute?” Charles asked.
“Of course.” I said.
Jace stayed nearby while I followed Charles into the office and he placed the folder on the desk.
“I wanted to ask you something.” Charles said as I opened it.
“What is this?” I asked.
“There’s a community event coming up next month.” He said as I looked at the information.
