“I was thinking about how much has changed.” I said as I looked at the ring on my finger.

“For the better?” He asked and I looked at him.

“For the better.” I said and he squeezed my hand.

“I’m glad.” He said.

“So am I.” I said.

The following morning, Lawson Customs would be busy again,

There would be customers waiting for repairs, motorcycles arriving for inspections, suppliers calling, and employees needing direction.

There would always be something to do. But I no longer feared the work.

I had built something strong, and more importantly, I had built something surrounded by people who cared

about it.

That was enough for me. At least, it should have been.

Because while I was sitting beside Jace, believing the weekend had passed without another problem, someone else was already making plans inside my business.

The workshop was empty after closing and I stood near the office door and listened carefully.

The building was silent, and the only sound came from the refrigeration unit in the back room.

He waited another minute before moving. He had already learned the routine.

Paige usually left first when she was finished, Mia stayed later when paperwork needed attention, and the mechanics locked up according to the schedule.

I had watched them closely since my first day. Tonight, nobody was coming back.

I entered the office and closed the door behind him.

My eyes moved across the room before he approached the computer and I had been careful since arriving at Lawson Customs, and I had never taken anything that would immediately raise suspicion.

Tonight, I needed something different.

Information. Customer records. Repair histories. Contact details. Vehicle information.

Anything that could help someone understand the business from the inside.

I connected the device I had been given and began copying files.

The progress bar moved slowly and I checked the hallway again.

I continued copying and then a folder appeared that I had not expected to see.

Customs.

I stared at the screen.

I had been told to gather information about Paige’s business, but this looked like something much more valuable.

I opened the folder and my expression changed. There was a name inside that I recognized immediately.

I quickly copied the folder. Then I heard a noise outside and I froze.
