Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 354
CHAPTER 195
Paige’s POV
Clam
I should have been thinking about Ben’s promotion when I went home that evening, because watching him receive Uncle Will’s toolbox had reminded me why Lawson Customs mattered so much.
Instead, I found myself thinking about Kyle.
Diesel had growled at him again before we left the workshop, and the sound had stayed with me long after I locked the doors.
I trusted my dog, but I also knew that instincts weren’t evidence.
That was why I hadn’t confronted Kyle.
I had already asked Derek to look into him, and until we knew more, I intended to keep doing what I had been doing.
I intended to watch.
The clubhouse was quiet when Jace and I finally went to bed, and for the first time in days, I managed to relax.
I had no idea that several hours later, someone would return to Lawson Customs.
Kyle waited until the streets were quiet before approaching the building.
He had studied the routines carefully, and he knew when the workshop was empty so he slipped inside and moved through the dark building while keeping his breathing controlled.
He had been told to find Uncle Will’s journals, and he knew Victor wouldn’t accept another excuse.
Kyle checked the main office first.
The room was exactly as he remembered it, but the journals were gone. He searched the desk drawers, checked the filing cabinet, and looked through the shelves.
Nothing.
So he moved upstairs and the small storage area contained old paperwork, spare supplies, and several boxes that hadn’t been opened in years, but there was no sign of the journals.
Kyle became increasingly frustrated.
He checked another room, then returned downstairs and searched the office again.
He knew I had kept the journals somewhere in the building. He had seen them before.
What he didn’t know was that Paige had already moved everything important.
After the strange discoveries involving Mr. Black and the old warehouse investigation, I had stopped keeping Uncle Will’s journals in obvious places.

had moved them somewhere secure, somewhere Kyle would never think to search.
Kyle opened another drawer and found nothing useful. He checked beneath the desk.
Nothing.
He searched the cabinets.
Nothing.
His frustration grew because Victor had made it clear that failure wouldn’t be tolerated.
Then a sound came from outside and Kyle froze.
He listened but then there was nothing. He waited several seconds before continuing.
He moved toward the back office, but his hand stopped on the door handle and something felt wrong.
He couldn’t explain why so he looked toward the hallway. Still nothing.
Kyle stepped inside and began searching again.
Meanwhile, outside the building, Diesel suddenly lifted his head.
Derek was still at the clubhouse security station when he noticed the dog become restless.
“What is it, boy?” Derek asked.
Diesel moved toward the door and gave a low growl and Derek immediately stood.
Cla
Diesel had been acting strangely around Kyle for days, and Derek had already started taking the behavior seriously.
“What do you hear?” Derek asked as Diesel scratched at the door.
Derek checked the security monitors.
Most of the cameras showed empty areas, but one camera briefly flickered so he leaned closer to the
screen.
“Come on.” Derek said as the image returned.
The rear entrance was visible, but there was no one standing outside so Derek grabbed his phone and called Jace.
I woke to the sound of Jace’s phone ringing and Jace reached for it first.
“It’s Derek.” Jace said.
“What happened?” He answered and I sat up as Jace listened and his expression changed.
“Are you sure?” Jace asked as I watched him closely.
“Where?” Jace asked and he looked at me.
“Lawson Customs.” Jace said and my stomach dropped.
CHAPTER 19.
“What happened?” asked.
“We’re heading there.” Jace said.

We were dressed within minutes, and Jace called Mason while Derek made his way toward the workshop.
I grabbed my keys, and Diesel immediately followed us.
The drive felt longer than it should have.
“What did Derek say?” I asked.
“He saw movement on one of the cameras, and Diesel alerted him.” Jace said.
“Did he see who it was?” I asked.
“Not yet.” He said as I stared through the windshield.
My mind immediately returned to Kyle and I didn’t want to believe it.
I also couldn’t ignore the feeling that had been building for days.
When we reached Lawson Customs, Derek was already outside as he raised a hand as we approached.
“Someone got inside.” Derek said and my stomach tightened.
“How?” I asked.
“We’re still checking.” He said as he looked toward the building.
“Did you see anyone?” I asked.
“No, but I saw enough movement to know someone was inside.” Derek said.
Diesel pulled toward the entrance and began growling so I looked down at him.
“Good boy.” I said.
He looked toward the building and we entered carefully, and the workshop appeared untouched.
The tools were where they belonged, the motorcycles were still in place, and nothing looked damaged.
Then I saw the office door. It was slightly open.
“I locked that.” I said as Jace looked at Derek.
“Check the cameras.” Jace said.
Derek moved toward the security station and I stayed near Jace while Diesel continued pulling toward the office.
The desk drawers were open. Folders had been disturbed. A cabinet stood partially open and someone had searched the room.
“They were looking for something.” I said as Jace nodded.
го
CHAPTER 199.
“What?” Jace asked.
Hooked at the shelves and then I understood.
“The journals.” I said as Jace’s expression hardened.
