Summary for Chapter 357: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 357

CHAPTER 197-1

I kept the phone against my ear while the room around me seemed to disappear.

Kyle had broken into Lawson Customs, searched my office, and admitted that he had been working for someone else, yet somehow the part that bothered me most was hearing him say that someone had been searching for Uncle Will’s journals since before he died.

“What do you mean someone has been looking for them since before my uncle died?” I asked and Kyle was silent for several seconds.

“I mean exactly what I said.” He said.

“You expect me to believe you after everything you have done?” I asked.

“No.” He said.

His answer surprised me.

“I’m not asking you to believe me, Paige.” He said so Jace moved closer, and I could see the anger in his expression.

“Then why are you calling?” Jace asked as Kyle took a slow breath.

“Because I owe you an explanation.” Kyle said.

“You owe me more than that.” I said.

“I know.” Kyle said.

His voice sounded different from the man I had known at the garage, because the confidence he usually carried was gone.

“Why did you do it?” I asked.

“I was told to.” He said.

“By Victor?” I asked.

す

“Yes.” He said and the admission hit me harder than I expected.

“You worked for him.” I said.

“I did.” He said.

“You lied to my face every day.” I said.

“I know.” He said.

“You stood beside Ben and pretended to help him become a better mechanic.” I said.

“I never meant to hurt Ben.” He said.

“But you used him.” I said and Kyle hesitated.

used the garage, and I used the access you gave me, but Ben was never part of what I was doing.” He said

I closed my eyes for a moment. I wanted to hate him.

And part of me did. However, another part of me needed answers.

“Then tell me why you’re suddenly talking to me.” I said and Kyle was quiet again.

“Because Victor threatened my family.” He said and Jace’s expression changed as I opened my eyes.

“What family?” I asked.

“My mother and my younger sister.” He said.

“Where are they?” I asked.

“I can’t tell you.” He said.

“Why not?” I asked.

“Because if Victor finds out I told you anything, they could be killed.” He said.

The room went silent and I looked at Jace.

He didn’t tell me what to think, and I appreciated that because I needed to make my own judgment.

“Why should I believe that Victor threatened them?” I asked.

“Because he showed me photographs.” He said and my stomach tightened.

“What kind of photos?” I asked.

“Photos of my mother leaving work, and photos of my sister outside her apartment.” He said as Jace’s jaw tightened.

“He was watching them.” Jace said.

“Yes.” Kyle said as his voice cracked slightly.

“He told me that if I stopped doing what he wanted, they would disappear.” Kyle added and I looked down at the phone.

For the first time, I heard genuine fear in his voice. Still, fear didn’t erase what he had done.

“You still broke into my business.” I said.

“I know.” He said.

“You stole customer information.” I said.

“I copied it.” He said.
