Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 358

CHAPTER 197-2

“Talk.” I said and Kyle exhaled.

“There’s more going on than Victor.”

“That’s what you said before.” I said.

“I know.” He said.

“Then give me something real.” I snapped.

“I can.” He said.

“What?” I asked.

“I know where Victor has been getting his orders.” He said and Jace leaned closer.

“From Mr. Black?” Jace asked and Kyle paused.

“I’ve heard the name.” Kyle said.

“Have you met him?” Jace asked.

“No.” Kyle said.

“Then what do you know?” Jace asked.

“Victor is afraid of him.” Kyle said.

That confirmed what we had already suspected, but Kyle continued.

“Victor received instructions from people above him, and sometimes those instructions came through someone who used the name Mr. Black.” Kyle added.

“Sometimes?” Jace asked.

“Yes.” Kyle said.

“Who else?” Jace asked.

“I don’t know.” Kyle said and I rubbed my forehead.

“Then why did Victor want the journals?” I asked.

“Because he believes your uncle documented something important.” Kyle said.

“What?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” He said.

“Then you’re not giving me much.” I said.

“I can give you more.” He said and I looked at Jace so he nodded slightly.

“Keep going.” I said so Kyle continued

“There was an old investigation involving a warehouse.” Kyle said and I froze.

“Uncle Will.” I said:

“Yes.” He said.

“How do you know about that?” I asked.

“I saw the symbol.” He said and my pulse quickened.

“What symbol?” I asked.

“The one you found in the journals.” He said and Jace exchanged a look with Derek.

“You saw it at Victor’s office?” I asked.

“Yes.” Kyle said.

“What did it mean?” I asked.

Cla

“I don’t know, but Victor said it was connected to something that should have stayed buried.” Kyle said and my fingers tightened around the phone.

That was almost exactly what Uncle Will had written.

“What else?” I asked.

“I know there are records connected to the warehouse, and I know Victor believes your uncle kept copies.” Kyle said.

“Copies of what?” I asked.

“I don’t know.” Kyle said as I stared at the floor.

Every answer created three more questions and Jace finally spoke.

“Why should we protect you?” Jace asked as Kyle was silent.

“Because I can help you find the people behind Victor.” Kyle said.

“That doesn’t answer the question.” Jace said.

“I know.” Kyle said as his voice became quieter.

“I’m asking for protection because if Victor finds me first, my family dies, and I probably will too.” Kyle added and Jace looked at me.

I knew what he was thinking because I was thinking the same thing.

Kyle had betrayed us, but he might also be a frightened man who had become trapped in something much larger than himself.

That didn’t make him innocent. It didn’t erase the damage he had caused. It simply meant there might be information we needed.

“Jace” I said quietly and he looked at me.

“We hear him out.” I added as Jace studied my face.

“I don’t trust him.” Jose sald:

“I know.” I said.

“We don’t bring him here.” (Jace said.

“I agree.” I said.

“And we don’t tell him where the journals are.” Jace said.

“Absolutely not.” I said and Jace nodded so he leaned toward the phone.

“You have one chance.” Jace said and Kyle went silent.

“You give us everything you know, and you don’t lie to us.” Jace added.

“I understand.” Kyle said.

“If you’re setting us up, you will regret it.” Jace siad.

“I’m not.” Kyle said.

“And if Victor is really threatening your family, we will consider helping them, but you don’t get to decide the terms.” Jace said as Kyle breathed out.

“Thank you.” Kyle said and I looked at Jace.

“What happens now?” I asked but Kyle answered before Jace could.

“We need to meet.” Kyle said and my stomach tightened.

“Where?” I asked.

“Somewhere private.” He said.

“That’s not happening.” I said.

“I understand.” He said.

“You don’t get to choose the location.” I said.

“I’m not asking to.” He said.

“Then where do you want to meet?” I asked and Kyle hesitated.

“There’s an old diner outside town.” Kyle said and Jace shook his head.

“No.” Jace said and Kyle went quiet.

“Then you choose.” JKyle said so Jace looked at Derek.

“Somewhere we control.” Jace said as Derek nodded and I returned my attention to the phone.
