I tried to focus on the engine in front of me, but every few minutes, looked at my phone and Ben noticed.

“You’re waiting for Jace.” Ben said.

“I am.” I said.

“He will be fine.” Ben said.

“I know.” I said.

“You don’t look convinced.” He said.

“I’m trying to be.” I said and Ben smiled.

“You taught me that worrying doesn’t fix anything.” He said.

“I also taught you that listening to your boss is important.” I said and he laughed.

“I knew there was a reason I liked working here.” He said as Mia looked over from the office.

“You two should get back to work.” Mia said and I smiled and returned my attention to the motorcycle.

For the next few hours, I kept busy.

I repaired a brake system, helped Aiden with a stubborn electrical problem, and checked several orders that had arrived earlier in the day.

The work helped because every task required concentration.

Still, my phone remained beside me.

At the harbour, Jace and the others moved carefully through the abandoned property.

The place was larger than Ethan had expected, and rusted shipping containers lined the edges of the old loading yard.

“There.” Ethan whispered as Jace followed his gaze.

Several motorcycles stood beneath a weathered metal structure and Mason moved closer.

“Those are stolen.” Mason said as Jace looked at the bikes.

“How do you know?” Jace asked.

“I recognize three of them.” Mason said as Derek checked another area.

“Come look at this.” Derek said so they followed him.

Behind a stack of old containers sat several crates, and inside were weapons that had clearly been acquired illegally.

Ethan photographed the markings and began recording the details.

This is bigger than Victor:” Ethan said as Jace looked around.

“What do you mean?” Jace asked.

“There are documents here from several different operations.” Ethan said and he picked up a folder.

“Motorcycle theft, weapons movement, shell companies, forged shipping paperwork.” Ethan said and Derek opened another box.

“There are names.” Derek said as Jace took the papers and scanned them.

Some belonged to people they knew, while others were unfamiliar.

“This explains the money.” Jace said as Ethan nodded.

“Some of the companies we found were moving funds through this harbour.” Ethan said.

Jace looked toward the dark water beyond the loading area.

“Then Victor isn’t running this alone.” Jace said.

“I never thought he was.” Ethan said.

They continued searching while staying alert.

The harbour was silent, and the stillness made every distant sound seem louder. Then the floodlights

came on.

Jace immediately turned and the entire harbour exploded into brightness.

Mason raised his weapon, while Derek moved beside Jace.

“What the hell?” Derek asked.

Movement appeared around the perimeter and men stepped from behind containers, buildings, and vehicles, and within seconds, the Iron Vipers were surrounded.

Dozens of Black Reapers emerged from the darkness and Jace’s hand tightened around his weapon.

“It’s a trap.” Jace said as Derek looked toward the exits.

“They have every route covered.” Derek said and Ethan lowered the papers slowly so Jace looked upward.

A figure stood on top of a shipping container overlooking the harbour.

Victor Kane.

He wore a dark jacket, and his face carried the same cold confidence Jace had seen before.

Victor looked down at the surrounded Iron Vipers.

Then he began to clap. Slowly and deliberately.

The sound echoed across the harbour and Jace stared at him while Victor smiled.

“I was wondering how long it would take you to find this place.” Victor said.

Nobody moved as Victor continued applauding as though he had just watched an entertaining performance.

“You followed the money, found the harbour, and walked directly into my hands.” Victor said.

Derek glanced toward Jace and Jace remained focused on Victor.
