Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 364
CHAPTER 200-2
They had lost more men than Victor had expected and I could see the confusion spreading.
“Keep moving!” I yelled.
We reached the maintenance canal, and Ethan pointed toward an old boat hidden beneath a damaged dock.
“Is that ours?” Ethan asked.
“No.” Derek said as I looked at the boat.
“It is now.” I said.
We climbed aboard while Mason helped the injured members inside.
The engine coughed when Derek started it, but after several attempts, it finally turned over.
“Go!” I yelled.
The boat moved into the narrow canal as gunfire followed us, but the containers quickly blocked the harbour behind us.
We stayed low until the canal curved away from the main property.
Only then did I allow myself to breathe and Mason checked the injured members.
“We have three wounded.” Mason said.
“How bad?” I asked.
“Nothing immediately life-threatening.” He said and I nodded.
“Get them back to the clubhouse.” I said as Derek looked toward the harbour.
“They’re not following.” Derek said and I stared into the darkness.
“That’s strange.” I said.
“What?” Derek asked.
“They had boats.” I said as Derek looked back.
“They did.” He said.
“They had vehicles.” I said.
“They did.” He said.
“And they had enough men to chase us.” I said as Mason frowned.
“So why did they stop?” Mason asked.
Nobody answered as I kept staring at the darkness behind us.

Something was wrong.
The fight had been brutal, but we had escaped too easily.
Victor had the advantage and he had surrounded us. He had the numbers. He had every obvious exit covered.
Yet somehow, we had found an old maintenance canal and a working boat, and the Black Reapers had allowed us to reach it without following so I looked at Derek.
“Go back through everything.” I said.
“What are you thinking?” Derek asked.
“I’m thinking Victor wanted us to leave.” I said as Derek frowned.
“Why?” Derek asked.
“I don’t know yet.” I said.
I replayed the confrontation in my mind.
Victor had been smiling before the shooting started. He had looked almost amused.
Then, during the fight, his men had pushed us toward the same side of the harbour where the maintenance canal was located.
I had assumed we found the escape route ourselves. Now I was not so sure.
“He herded us.” I said and Derek’s expression changed.
“You think he deliberately drove us toward the canal?” Derek asked.
“I think he knew exactly where we would go.” I said and Mason looked back toward the darkness.
“That means this entire escape was planned.” Mason said and I nodded slowly.
Victor had wanted us to see the harbour. He had wanted us to discover the stolen weapons, the motorcycles, and the forged paperwork.
He had wanted us to find evidence connecting several criminal groups. Then he had surrounded us and then he had let us escape.
The question was why and ny phone vibrated.
Paige.
I answered immediately.
“Jace?” She asked.
“We’re out.” I said and her breath caught.
“Are you hurt?” She asked.
“I’m fine.” I said.

“Derek?” She asked.
“I’m here.” Derek called.
“And Mason?” She asked.
“Still alive.” Mason said and I heard Paige exhale.
“What happened?” She asked and I looked back toward the canal entrance.
