Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 365
CHAPTER 201-1
Paige’s POV

I had never hated the sound of silence more than I did that night, because every time the garage fell quiet, my mind filled the empty space with images of Jace and the others trapped inside that harbour.
I stood behind the counter at Lawson Customs with my phone beside me, and although I had tried to work, I had barely accomplished anything since they left. The same invoice had been sitting open on the computer for nearly an hour, while the same customer file remained untouched on my desk.
Every few minutes, I picked up my phone and checked the screen.
Nothing.
I set it down again, forced myself to look at the paperwork, and then reached for my phone less than five minutes later.
The clock on the wall seemed determined to move slower than usual, because midnight became one in the morning, and one became two.
Mia had gone home hours ago, while Ben and Aiden had both offered to stay, but I had refused because I didn’t want anyone sitting here simply because I was too anxious to leave.
I wasn’t going home either.
Lawson Customs felt safer with the lights on, and somehow I needed to be here when Jace returned.
I walked through the workshop again, checking the doors and windows even though Derek had already confirmed that security was tight.
Diesel followed me everywhere.
He had been restless since Jace left, and every time headlights appeared outside, his ears lifted before he moved toward the front doors.
Then the headlights disappeared.
Again. And again.
す
By three in the morning, I had stopped pretending I was going to accomplish anything.
I sat on the old office couch with my boots planted on the floor, my phone resting in both hands, and stared through the glass toward the dark parking lot.
I kept telling myself that Jace was coming home.
He had promised.
I had learned a long time ago that promises didn’t always mean safety, but I still needed to believe his.
At 4:17, Diesel suddenly lifted his head and his ears pointed toward the road.
Then I heard it. The distant rumble of motorcycles and my heart slammed against my ribs as I jumped to
my feet.

Diesel reached the front doors before I did, and his tail began moving as the first motorcycle turned into the parking lot.
Another followed. Then another.
Headlights swept across the garage, and I saw the familiar patches on their jackets.
The Iron Vipers were coming home.
I barely remembered grabbing the keys before I was outside.
The first motorcycle rolled to a stop, and Jace climbed off.
For one terrible second, I simply stared at him. There was blood on his jacket. His face was dirty, and his right sleeve was torn, but he was standing.
He was alive.
That was all that mattered.
“Jace.” I said as he looked at me, and something in his expression softened immediately.
“I’m okay.” He said as I crossed the distance between us and wrapped my arms around him before he could say anything else.
His arms closed around me, and I buried my face against his chest while I fought the tears that had been threatening all night.
“You scared the hell out of me.” I whispered.
“I know.” He said.
“You said you would call.” I said.
“We were busy trying not to get shot.” He said.
I pulled back enough to glare at him, although my hands remained against his chest.
“That’s not funny.” I said.
