Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 367
CHAPTER 202-1
Jace’s POV
The tracker sat on the workbench between us, and the tiny red light continued blinking as though it had no idea how much trouble it had just exposed.
Nobody spoke for several’ seconds.
The garage had been loud only minutes earlier, with engines cooling, medical equipment being packed away, and injured men moving between chairs, but now the entire room seemed frozen around that little black device.
I stared at it while the pieces’started falling into place.
“They tracked us.” I said quietly as Ethan nodded.
“They tracked this motorcycle.” Ethan said.
“That’s the same thing.” I said.
“Not necessarily. If they planted it before we left, they could have tracked the bike from the clubhouse to the harbour and back again.” Ethan replied, and he picked up the device with a pair of gloves and Derek’s expression hardened.
“Which means Victor knew exactly where the convoy was.” Derek said.
I looked toward the motorcycles parked inside the workshop.
“How did he know which route we were taking?” I asked as Ethan turned the tracker over.
“He might not have needed to know.” Ethan said.
The answer settled heavily over the room and Victor had not needed to predict our movements if he had been watching us in real time.
That explained too much. The harbour had been waiting for us. The men had been positioned before we arrived.
Victor had known exactly how many motorcycles were coming, and he had known we would bring evidence back with us.
He had known because something had been following us and I looked at Derek.
“Check every bike.” I said and Derek nodded immediately.
“Every single one?” Derek asked.
“Every single one.” I said.
The club moved without another question.
The injured men stayed where they were while the rest of us started inspecting the motorcycles one at a time.
We checked underneath frames, behind panels, inside saddlebags, beneath seats, and around the battery Compartments.
Nothing was overlooked
The first three bikes were clean. The fourth was clean. The fifth was clean and I watched Ethan crawl beneath another motorcycle with a flashlight while Derek checked the wiring.
The silence was becoming unbearable and then Ethan swore under his breath.
“What?” I asked.
He slid out from beneath the bike and held up another device and my jaw tightened.
“Another tracker?” I asked.
“Exactly like the first one.” Ethan said as Derek looked at the motorcycle.
“That one was at the harbour.” Derek said.
“So was mine.” I said.
Ethan placed the second tracker beside the first.
“We keep looking.” Ethan said.
We found a third tracker twenty minutes later.
This one was hidden inside the rear frame of Mason’s motorcycle, and the discovery made the room go colder than the early morning air outside.
Three trackers. Three motorcycles. Three opportunities for someone to follow us without being seen and Derek stood with his hands on his hips.
“This isn’t random.” Derek said.
“No. It isn’t.” I said as Ethan looked at the devices.
“Whoever planted these knew which bikes would be used by club members going into potentially sensitive situations.” Ethan said.
I looked around the garage and that was the part I hated most.
