Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 368
CHAPTER 202-2
He had talked to Ben He had joked with Aiden. He had walked through this building while learning how everything worked.
We had let him in and I looked toward Paige.–
She stood near the office doorway, her arms folded tightly across her chest, and I could see the anger behind her eyes.
“This means the damage might not have stopped when Kyle died.” She said.
“No. It might not have.” Derek replied and I hated hearing those words.
Kyle was dead.
Victor had eliminated him at the harbour because he had become a liability, but that didn’t mean everything Kyle had done disappeared with him.
He could have planted trackers weeks ago. He could have copied information. He could have altered security procedures. He could have made small changes that would only matter later.
The thought made me look toward the garage doors.
“From now on, nothing leaves this building without being checked.” I said and Derek nodded.
“We change the security codes.” Derek said.
“Every code.” I said.
“Garage, office, clubhouse, vault, storage areas, everything.” Derek said as Ethan lifted one of the trackers.
“I also want every vehicle inspected before it moves.” Ethan said.
“Do it.” I said.
“And nobody brings outside equipment into the clubhouse without checking it first.” Ethan said.
“Agreed.” I said as Derek looked at me.
“What about the employees?” Derek asked as I paused.
That question hurt more than it should have.
“Everyone gets checked.” I said as Paige looked at me.
“You mean everyone.” Paige said.
“Yes.” He said as she nodded slowly.
“I understand.” She said.
“I don’t want to make you feel like you can’t trust your own people.” He said.
މ
already feel that way.” She said.
Her voice was quiet, but the pain underneath it was obvious so I walked toward her.
“You didn’t do anything wrong.” I said.
“I hired him.” She said.
“You hired a mechanic with good references.” I said.
“And he betrayed me.” She said.
“He betrayed all of us.” I said as Paige looked toward the workbench..
“He was standing beside me every day.” She said.
“I know.” I said.
“He watched me work.” She said.
“I know.” I said.
“He knew where I kept everything.” She said.
“I know.” I said and she closed her eyes for a moment.
“I should have seen it.” She said as I stepped closer.
“You did see something.” I said and her eyes opened.
“Diesel saw it first.” She said.
That finally brought the smallest smile to her face./
“Yeah.” I said as I looked toward the dog.
Diesel was lying beside my motorcycle, his head resting across his paws, but his eyes remained open as he watched the room.
“He never trusted Kyle.” I said.
“He never trusted Mark either.” She said.
“And Mark was connected to Victor.” I said as Paige’s expression changed.
“So Diesel was warning us.” She said.
“Maybe.” I said.
She looked at Diesel for several seconds and then she turned toward the motorcycles.
“I want to check them again.” She said as Derek shook his head.
“We’ve checked them three times.” Derek said.
“I don’t care.” She said.

Her determination was familiar. It was the same stubbornness that had kept Lawson Customs open when Victor wanted it destroyed, and it was the same stubbornness that had carried her through every attack.
I understood it because had the same problem.
“We’ll check them again.” I said and Derek sighed.
“Fine.” Derek said.
We started over and this time Paige joined us.
She moved from motorcycle to motorcycle, asking questions about recent repairs and looking closely at areas that had been serviced.
Ethan checked the first two and Derek checked the next.
I inspected the bike Mason had ridden and Paige moved toward the final motorcycle.
Then she stopped and her hand remained on the handlebars.
“What is it?” I asked and she didn’t answer immediately.
She looked at the motorcycle as though she was trying to remember something that had been buried beneath weeks of ordinary work.
“I worked on this one.” She said.
“When?” I asked as she frowned.
“I don’t remember exactly.” She said as she crouched beside it.
“There was something strange about it.” She added as Derek immediately moved closer.
“What kind of strange?” Derek asked as Paige touched the side panel.
“It came in for a routine service, but it wouldn’t start properly after we finished.” She said and Ethan looked
“What happened?” Ethan asked.
“I thought it was electrical.” She said as she stared at the motorcycle.
“But when I checked it, everything looked fine.” She added and my instincts tightened.
“Did Kyle work on it?” I asked.
Paige’s fingers slowly curled around the edge of the seat.
“I think so.” She said.
