Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 370
CHAPTER 203-2
“He knew where they were.”Twhispered as Mia looked at me.
“What?” She asked.
“The cameras.” I said as Kyle looked directly toward them several times.
“He knew exactly when he was being watched added and Mia paused the footage.
“You’re right.” She said as I sat back.
The guilt hit me harder than I expected.
I had hired him. I had trusted him. I had let him work around our customers, our employees, and the club.
I had even allowed him to mentor people who looked up to the mechanics here.
“I should have caught this.” I said as Mia immediately shook her head.
“Paige.” She said.
“I should have.” I said.
“You didn’t know.” She said.
“I should have known.” I said and Mia closed the laptop halfway.
“You can’t punish yourself because someone lied to you.” She said.
“He wasn’t just lying.” I said.
“I know.” She said.
“He was using my business.” I said.
“I know.” She said.
“He was standing right here while Victor’s people were watching us.” I said as Mia reached across the desk.
“You hired him because his references checked out, and you gave him the same opportunity you would have given anyone else who seemed qualified.” She said as I looked down at the table.
“That doesn’t make me feel better.” I said.
“It doesn’t have to make you feel better, because this isn’t your fault.” She said.
I heard footsteps behind us, and Jace appeared in the office doorway.
He had changed his clothes after the harbour, but the exhaustion remained in his eyes.
“How much did you hear?” I asked.
“Enough.” He said as I looked at him.
CHAPTER 209
“We found the afternoon when Kyle was alone.” said as Jace stepped closer.
“What did he do?” Jace asked as Mia turned the laptop toward him.
25 Points
“He accessed several motorcycles that weren’t assigned to him.” Mia said as Jace watched the footage and his jaw tightened.
“Those bikes?” Jace asked.
“One of them had a tracker.” I said as he stared at the screen for another moment.
“So he planted them here.” Jace said.
“That’s what it looks like.” She said and I looked away.
“I let him.” I said as Jace immediately turned toward me.
“No.” Jace said.
“I hired him.” I said.
“You hired someone who lied to you.” He said.
“I trusted him.” I said.
“So did everyone else.” He said and I looked at him.
“That doesn’t change what happened.” I said.
“No, but it changes who is responsible.” He said as his voice softened.
“Kyle made his choices, Paige, and Victor made his choices, but you didn’t make them for either of them.” Jace added.
I wanted to believe him. Part of me did but another part kept replaying every conversation I had ever had with Kyle.
Every time he had smiled. Every time he had offered to help. Every time I had walked away from the garage believing everything was safe.
Then I heard footsteps again and Ben appeared at the doorway.
“Can I come in?” Ben asked and I nodded and he looked at the laptop.
