Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 377

CHAPTER 206-2

“The club, the families, the garage, all of it.” I added and Sophia smiled.

“Neither did we.” Sophia said and I laughed softly.

“I spent most of my life believing I was better off alone.” I said as Emma stopped stirring.

“And now?” Emma asked as I looked toward the doorway.

“Now I’m not so sure.” I said.

Nobody pushed me to explain. They didn’t need to. They understood.

Dinner was ready just before seven, and everyone gathered around the long tables in the

clubhouse dining room.

The children sat together while the adults filled the other seats, and the room became loud

almost immediately.

Someone complained about the amount of food. Someone else accused them of taking too much. One of the children dropped a fork and another started laughing.

Jace sat beside me, and his hand rested against my knee beneath the table so I leaned

closer.

“This is chaos.” I said and he smiled.

“This is family.” He said and I looked around again.

Maybe he was right.

After dinner, the children disappeared from the room. That should have been our first

warning.

They returned several minutes later carrying something between them, and when I saw the

large frame in their hands, I frowned.

“What is that?” I asked as the youngest child grinned.

“You have to see it.” He said and they placed the frame on the table in front of me.

I stared and it was a drawing of Lawson Customs.

The building was slightly crooked, the garage doors were far too large, and every motorcycle

had wheels that looked almost completely round.

There were people standing outside the garage. There was a dog beside the building and

there were even flowers around the front door.

At the top, written in large colorful letters, were the words:

PAIGE’S GARAGE

I couldn’t speak and Jace looked at me.

“Paige?” Jace asked as I touched the edge of the frame.

“You made this?” I asked and the children nodded.

“We wanted to make your garage.” One of them said.

“And we called it Paige’s Garage because everybody knows it’s yours.” Another one said as

my throat tightened and one of the children pointed toward the drawing.

“That is you.” She said and I looked closer.

A small figure stood outside the garage with light hair and a wrench in one hand.

“That is definitely me.” I said.

“And that’s Jace.” Another one said as I looked at another figure standing beside me.

“He has very big arms.” I said as Jace looked offended.

“I don’t have arms that big.” Jace said but the children immediately disagreed.

“Yes, you do.” One said and the entire table erupted into laughter and I wiped beneath one

eye.

“I love it.” I said and the children smiled.

“Really?” One asked.

“Really.” I said.

I looked at the picture again. Something about it reached deeper than I expected.

Lawson Customs had started as a business. Then it became a place where I could build

something that belonged to me. Now these children saw it as something more.

They saw it as a place that belonged to all of us and I stood and lifted the framed drawing.

“I know exactly where I am going to put this.” I said.

“Where?” One of the kids asked.

“In Uncle Will’s old office.” I said.

The room still carried his presence in small ways, because his desk remained against the

wall, his old shelves still held several books, and the smell of oil and old wood never seemed

to disappear.

“You think he would have liked it?” Jace asked as I smiled through the emotion in my chest.

“He would have loved it.” I said as I looked at the drawing again.

Uncle Will had taught me that a garage could be more than walls and machinery. It could be a place where people found purpose. It could be a place where someone learned a trade.

It could be a place where someone who had nowhere else to go found people willing to stand

beside them.

I had spent years thinking I had built Lawson Customs alone. I finally understood that I had built it because people had helped me and Jace slipped his arm around my waist.

“You belong here.” He said as I looked at him.

“So do you.” I said and he smiled.

“So do all of them.” He said.

For once, the word family didn’t feel complicated. It felt simple. It felt safe.
