The clubhouse had never felt so quiet before Church.

Every member sat around the long table, and nobody joked, nobody drank, and nobody looked toward the television mounted in the corner.

The photographs from the depot fire were spread across the table.

The security footage showing Damien stood frozen on Ethan’s laptop.

The evidence bag containing fragments from the explosive device sat beside the photographs.

I stood at the head of the table while Paige waited outside the room with Emma and the other women.

This meeting belonged to the club. Whatever happened next would affect all of us and Derek leaned forward.

“We have enough evidence to know Damien was at the depot.” Derek said as Ethan nodded.

“The footage is clear enough for Sarah’s investigators to use, and the timing puts him there shortly before the explosion.” Ethan said as Mason looked at the photographs.

“So what happens now?” Mason asked and I looked around the table.

“That depends on us.” I said and nobody answered.

For months, we had reacted.

Victor attacked Lawson Customs, and we defended it. The Black Reapers threatened the clubhouse, and we increased security. They followed our motorcycles, and we searched them. They attacked the recovery depot, and we repaired it.

They had forced us to spend months protecting everything we loved while they chose the time and place of every confrontation.

I was done with that.

“We can’t keep waiting for Victor to decide where the next fight happens.” I said as Mason leaned back.

“I agree.” Mason said and Derek nodded.

“We’ve been playing defense since the first attack.” Derek said.

“And every time we stop one threat, another appears.” Mason said and Ethan looked at me.

“What are you suggesting?” Ethan asked as I placed both hands on the table.

“We strike back.” I said.

The room went silent and Mason’s expression hardened.

“Against Victor?” Mason asked.

“Against his operation.” I said as Derek studied me.

“Not his people?” Derek asked.

“His operation.” I said as I looked around the table.

“I want the Black Reapers dismantled, but I’m not interested in becoming the thing we’ve spent all this time fighting.” I said with nobody interrupted.

“We don’t target families.” I said as I looked directly at Mason.

“We don’t threaten children.” I added as I looked at Derek.

“We don’t attack civilians.” I continued looking toward Ethan.

“We don’t create unnecessary casualties.” I said with Ethan nodding.

“We hit their businesses, their storage sites, their money, their weapons supply, and anything else that keeps the organization operating.” I continued as Mason leaned forward.

“What about Victor?” Mason asked.

“If he comes after us, we defend ourselves.” I said.

“And Damien?” Mason asked and I paused.

“Same answer.” I said as Derek nodded slowly.

“We need evidence.” Derek said.

“We already have evidence.” I said.

“Then we need more.” Derek said and I agreed.

“We do this carefully.” I said.

The room remained quiet for several seconds and then Mason spoke.

“I vote yes.” Mason said as Derek nodded.

“Yes.” Derek said as Ethan raised his hand.

“Yes.” Ethan said.

One by one, the other members gave their votes.
