“I don’t like where this is heading.” He added.

“Neither do I.” I said.

“But we’re ready.” He said as I looked into his eyes.

“We’ve been saying that for months.” I said.

“This time, we’ve more information.” He said.

“That doesn’t make me less scared.” I said.

“I know.” He said as he pulled me closer.

“You don’t have to be fearless.” I said.

“I know.” He said.

“You just have to stay with me.” I said as I wrapped my arms around him.

Later that night, the Iron Vipers gathered inside the clubhouse.

Derek reviewed the latest security information while Ethan added Sarah’s warning to the

investigation file.

Nobody knew exactly what Victor was planning.

That uncertainty made the room feel heavier and then Ethan looked up.

“There’s something else.” Ethan said as Jace turned.

“What?” Jace asked.

“I checked the recent communications connected to several known Black Reaper associates.

“Ethan said.

“And?” Jace asked.

“Something changed tonight.” Ethan said as Derek frowned.

“What changed?” Derek asked and Ethan looked at his screen.

“Victor contacted everyone.” Ethan said as Jace’s expression hardened.

silent.

“How many?” Jace asked as Ethan looked at the list.

“More than we’ve seen gathered in one place since the beginning of this.” Ethan said as Jace

stared at the screen.

“Where?” Jace asked but Ethan hesitated.

“We don’t know yet.” Ethan said.

Across town, Victor Kane stood inside the old Black Reaper compound.

The building was darker than usual, and the remaining members filled the main room.

Some had arrived from nearby towns. Others had driven for hours.

They stood shoulder to shoulder while Victor walked slowly in front of them.

“We’ve lost warehouses.” Victor said but nobody spoke.

“We’ve lost weapons. We’ve lost men. But we haven’t lost everything.” Victor stopped as he

looked across the room.

“You are here.” He added and the men watched him carefully.

“And as long as you’re here, the Black Reapers are not finished.” He said as Victor pulled a folded map from his jacket and placed it across the table.
