Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 401
CHAPTER 218-1
Paige’s POV
When I got back to the clubhouse after work I saw a couple of strangers but I ignored them
but I could sense the tension in the house. I looked over at the computer where Ethan was
working and that same symbol stayed on the screen long after Ethan stopped talking.
I had seen it before. I had traced it with my fingers across the pages of Uncle Will’s journals,
and I had stared at it in photographs that were older than most of the people now involved in
the war.
Seeing it again made something cold settle in my stomach.
Jace stood beside me while Ethan closed the laptop.
Cole and Aaron remained on the other side of the room under Derek’s supervision, and
neither man looked comfortable so Ethan turned toward them.
“Let’s start again.” Ethan said and Cole sighed.
“We already told you what we know.” Cole said.
“You told us what Victor was doing. Now I want to know what you know about Mr. Black.”
Ethan said.
Cole looked at Aaron and Aaron shook his head.
“Almost nothing.” Aaron said.
“Almost?” Ethan asked.
“We heard the name.” Aaron said.
“From Victor?” Ethan asked and Aaron nodded.
“Mostly.” Aaron said and Ethan pulled out a chair and sat opposite them.
“What did Victor say?” Ethan asked as Aaron rubbed his hands together.
“He never talked about Mr. Black like he talked about anyone else.” Aaron said.
“What does that mean?” Ethan asked and Cole answered this time.
“Victor was afraid of him.” Cole, said and the room became quiet as Jace folded his arms.

CHAPTER 218-1
“Victor wasn’t afraid of much.” Jace said.
“That’s why it stood out.” Cole said as Ethan looked between them.
“Did you ever meet him?” Ethan asked.
“No.” Cole said.
“Did you ever see him?” Ethan asked.
“No.” Cole said.
“Did Victor ever give you a description?” Ethan asked but Aaron shook his head.
“Nothing useful.” Aaron said.
“Did he say where Mr. Black operated?” Ethan asked.
“No.” Aaron said.
“Did he mention a city?” Ethan asked.
“No.” Aaron said.
“State?” Ethan asked.
“No.” Aaron said.
“Anything?” Ethan asked and Aaron looked frustrated.
“He said Mr. Black had people everywhere.” Aaron said and I glanced at Jace.
That sounded familiar. Too familiar.
Uncle Will had written something similar years ago.

Not the exact words, but the same idea had appeared several times throughout his notes.
People connected to businesses that seemed unrelated.
Warehouse owners who knew nothing about what moved through their buildings.
Payments that travelled through companies with legitimate paperwork.
Names that disappeared whenever Uncle Will got close and I looked back at the defectors.
“What did Victor fear about him?” I asked and Cole swallowed.
“He feared making him angry.” Cole said.

“That doesn’t tell us much.” I said.
“I know.” He said as Cole looked at the floor.
