Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 403
CHAPTER 219-1
For nearly two weeks, nothing happened.

That should have made me feel relieved, but instead, the silence sat heavily in the back of my mind because Victor Kane had never been a man who disappeared without a reason.
Lawson Customs, however, had never been busier.
The expanded workshop was running from early morning until late afternoon, and some days, we barely had enough room for another motorcycle to fit through the doors. Ben moved confidently between the lifts, Aiden handled diagnostics beside him, and Mia kept the office running with the kind of efficiency that made me wonder how we had ever managed without
her.
I loved it.
I loved the noise, the smell of oil, the tools scattered across benches, and the familiar sound
of engines coming back to life.
Most of all, I loved the ordinary routine.
Every morning, I arrived before most of the staff, made coffee, and sat in my office for a few minutes while the workshop slowly woke around me. Then I would spend the day working on
motorcycles, answering questions, checking parts orders, and helping wherever I was
needed.
There were no explosions. There were no gunshots. Nobody was calling to tell us another
warehouse had been attacked. Nobody was missing.
For the first time in months, Lawson Customs felt like a normal business again. That should
have been enough.
It wasn’t.
“You’re doing it again.” Mia said one morning.
“Doing what?” I asked as I looked up from the paperwork in front of me.
“Staring at the security monitor.” She said.
“I was checking the cameras.” I said.

“You checked them five minutes ago.” She said.
“I like knowing they’re working.” I said.

“You know what I think?” Mia asked as she leaned against the office doorway and folded her
arms.
“I probably don’t want to know.” I said.
“I think you’re waiting for something to happen.” She said.
I looked through the office window toward the workshop, where Ben was helping Aiden lift a
motorcycle onto one of the stands.
“I think everyone is.” I said and Mia’s expression softened, but she didn’t argue.
That was the problem with the silence. Nobody believed it was peace.
Jace had quietly increased patrols around Iron Vipers territory, although he had been careful
not to make it obvious to the families. Extra riders moved through the roads at different
times, security checks became more frequent, and Derek made sure every member knew
what to watch for.
Nobody panicked. Nobody wanted the children asking questions.
We simply carried on.
That Sunday, Emma sat across from me at the clubhouse while the children played outside
with Diesel.
“This feels worse than the fighting.” She said quietly.
“Why?” I asked as I glanced at her.
“Because at least when they’re shooting at us, we know where they are.” She said.
“That’s not exactly comforting.” I said as I gave her a small smile.
“I know.” She said as she looked toward the windows before shaking her head.
“Forget it. I don’t want to talk about Victor.” She added.
“Good.” I said.
“Then let’s talk about your wedding.” She said.

“You changed that subject very quickly.” I laughed despite myself.
