Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 406
CHAPTER 220-2
“I know.” Emma said.
The children were being moved into the secure rooms, and Diesel stayed close to them as if
he understood exactly what was happening.
One of the younger children reached down and rubbed his head.
“He knows something is wrong.” I said as Paige watched Diesel for a moment.
“He always knows.” She said.
The dog remained near the doorway while the children settled, and his attention kept shifting
toward the outside hall and I stepped closer to Paige.
“I need you to stay here.” I said.
“I know.” She said.
“If anything changes, Derek will come for you.” He said.
“I know.” She said.
“If you hear anything outside, you stay inside.” I said as she looked directly at me.
“And you?” She asked.
“I’ll be outside.” I said.
“I figured.” She said as I touched her cheek.
“We’re going to get through this.” I said.
“You better.” She said.
“I intend to.” I said and she caught my hand before I could step away.
“Jace.” She said and I looked at her.
“Come back.” She added.
The words hit harder than anything else she could have said.
“I will.” I said and I left before either of us could say more.
Outside, the atmosphere had changed.

The clubhouse lights remained low, and members had taken positions around the property without making themselves obvious from the road.
Derek stood near the main entrance with Mason.
“Scouts?” I asked.
“Two teams are watching the northern and eastern approaches.” Derek said.
“Any movement?” I asked.
“Nothing inside the territory yet.” He answered.
I checked my phone and a message arrived almost immediately.
County line confirmed.
Another followed.
Thirty-two bikes counted. More behind them.
I looked toward the road.
“More?” I asked and Derek nodded.
“Scouts say they can’t see the end of the convoy.” Derek said.
That changed everything.
“How many are we talking about?” I asked.
“We don’t know.” Derek said and I looked at Mason.
“Keep everyone in defensive positions.” I said and Mason nodded.
“No one fires unless they fire first.” I said.
“Understood.” Mason said and Derek’s phone rang.
He answered, listened, then lowered it slowly.
“What?” Derek asked and he looked at me.
“They crossed the county line.” Derek added and I felt every muscle in my body tighten.
“How far?” I asked.
“Less than fifteen minutes.” He said.

The members around us checked their weapons, and the quiet clicking of magazines and safeties carried through the darkness and I raised a hand.
“Hold.” I said as everyone stopped.
“We’re not giving them the first shot.” I said and Derek looked toward the road.
“What if they’re coming straight here?” Derek asked.
“Then they will find us ready.” I said.
A distant engine echoed through the trees. Then another. Then several more.
The sound grew steadily louder, and the darkness beyond the property seemed to vibrate with
approaching motorcycles and Mason moved beside me.
“That’s more than thirty.” Mason said.
“I know.” I said.
Headlights appeared between the trees.
One became five. Five became twenty. Then the road seemed to fill with them.
