CHAPTER 221-1

The first gunshot came less than three minutes after Victor’s convoy crossed into our

territory.

I heard it over the radio before I saw anything.

“North depot is under attack.” Someone yelled and I turned toward Derek.

“Who is there?” I asked.

“Security team only.” Derek said.

“What about the employees?” I asked.

“They evacuated when the warning came through.” He said.

Relief lasted for half a second before another burst of gunfire cracked through the night.

“Get everyone moving.” I ordered and Mason was already reaching for his radio.

“Iron Vipers, move to defensive positions around the depot, and nobody leaves the property

without permission.” I ordered.

Engines roared to life around us as members mounted their motorcycles and trucks.

The convoy Victor had brought into our territory was already splitting apart, and several

groups were moving toward different roads.

He hadn’t brought everyone here for one attack. He had brought enough men to create

chaos.

“Jace.” Derek said and I looked at him.

“The depot is taking heavy fire.” He added.

“Then we go.” I said.

We climbed into the nearest truck, and Mason followed with two other members while Derek

took the vehicle behind us.

The road disappeared beneath the headlights as we drove toward the towing depot.

Gunfire continued in the distance, and every shot made the situation feel more urgent so I

grabbed the radio.

“North team, status.” I said and a voice answered through static.

“They’re hitting the front entrance, but we have them pinned behind the storage units.” He

answered.

“Any injuries?” I asked.

“None.” He said.

“Keep it that way.” I said.

“We will.” He said and I looked through the windshield.

The depot appeared ahead, and smoke was already rising above the buildings.

Several vehicles were parked across the entrance, while muzzle flashes erupted between the

rows of storage containers.

“They came prepared.” Mason said.

“They knew exactly where to hit.” I said.

We stopped behind a concrete barrier, and everyone moved into position and I raised my weapon and looked toward the depot.

“Wait for my signal.” I said and Derek moved beside me.

“How many?” Derek asked.

“Too many to count accurately.” I said.

“Police?” He asked.

“Sarah says units are on the way.” I said.

“Then we hold until they arrive.” He said.

Another burst of gunfire tore through the night and one of the depot windows shattered, and

pieces of glass fell across the pavement.

“They’re trying to force us out.” Mason said.

“They won’t.” I said as I raised my hand.

“Now.” I ordered.

Our members returned fire from multiple positions, forcing the Black Reapers away from the
