Damien stood across from me while the room remained silent.

They were all waiting to see what I would do.

“You have been questioning me for weeks.” I said.

“Because someone needs to.” Damien replied and several riders shifted behind him,

That was the first thing I noticed. They weren’t looking at me. They were looking at Damien.

“You think you speak for everyone?” I asked.

“No. But I think more people agree with me than you realize.” He said as he glanced around the

room.

A murmur moved through the room and my jaw tightened.

“Then let them speak.” I said and one of the older riders stepped forward.

“We have lost too much.” He said as I looked at him.

“You want to question me too?” I asked.

“I want answers.” He said.

“You will get them when I decide you need them.” I said.

“that’s the problem.” Damien said as I turned toward him.

“You keep talking.” He added.

“Because you keep refusing to listen.” I said and a younger rider stepped forward.

“Damien is right.” He said.

The room changed immediately and I looked around.

Three men had moved closer to him and another rider lowered his weapon and folded his arms.

“You’re losing people. You’re losing money, weapons, and safe locations, and you keep telling us the next move will fix everything.” He said.

“It will.” I said.

“When?” He asked and I stared at him.

CHAPTER 228 1

“When I say.” I said and Damien shook his head.

“That’s not an answer.” Damien said.

“You’re pushing your luck.” I said.

“I have been pushing it for months.” Damien said as he took another step toward me.

“You nearly killed me because I questioned you before, but I’m still here, and I’m still asking the

same questions.” Damien said.

“You should be grateful that you’re still breathing.” I said.

“I am.” Damien said as his voice remained steady.

“But I’m not grateful for following a leader who keeps dragging us into fights without telling us what the real objective is.” He added and that word caught my attention.

“Real objective?” I asked as Damien looked at the others.

“You heard him talk about the final operation. He told us it would rebuild the club. He said it would give us money, weapons, and territory. And what have we received? More losses.” Damien said but nobody spoke but several heads nodded and my hands tightened.

“You’re trying to turn them against me.” I said.

“No.” He said as he pointed toward the room.

“They’re already turning.” He added.

That was the moment I realized the damage was worse than I thought.

The club had fractured. Not completely. Not yet. But the loyalty I had relied upon was no longer

automatic.

Some riders avoided my eyes. Others stood closer to Damien and a few looked toward the exits.

I understood what that meant.

“You think leaving will save you?” I asked.

Nobody answered and I stepped toward the nearest group.

“If you walk away from the Black Reapers, you become a target.” I threatened and an older rider

shook his head.

“We’re already targets.” He said.

“You think the Iron Vipers will protect you?” I asked.
