Summary for Chapter 426: Ride With Me (Paige and Jace)

Ride With Me novel Paige and Jace by Kylie K Chapter 426

CHAPTER 230-2

Whoever had been using it had left before we arrived. Or had been warned.

That thought bothered me.

“Jace.” Ethan said so I turned around and Ethan was standing beside another room.

“What?” I asked.

“There are records here.” Ethan said.

“What kind?” I asked.

“Financial.” He said as I walked toward him and he held a folder in his hands.

“Can you take everything?” I asked.

“Not without damaging some of it.” He said.

“Photograph the important pages, then secure the rest.” I said and he nodded.

We continued searching while Derek remained near the stairs. Then a phone vibrated.

Mine.

It was Sarah so I answered.

“Sarah.” I answered.

“Where are you?” She asked.

“Factory.” I said and there was a pause.

“What factory?” She asked and I frowned.

“The abandoned factory on the east side.” I said.

“I need you to stop what you are doing.” She said and I looked at Derek.

“Why?” I asked.

“Because there is an underground facility beneath that building.” She said and my expression

hardened.

“We know.” I said and silence followed.

“You know?” She asked.

“Yes.” I said.

CHAPTER 230-2

“How?” She asked and I looked at Ethan.

He was still photographing documents.

“Someone gave us information.” I said and Sarah’s voice changed.

“Who?” She asked.

“I’m not discussing that over the phone.” I said and she paused.

“Jace, nobody mentioned an underground facility to me before now.” She said and that made me

uncomfortable.

“You weren’t told?” I asked.

“No. Not until now.” She said.

“Who told you about it?” I asked.

“I received information that something was happening at the factory, but the source didn’t mention anything underground.” She said and I looked around the room.

“So how did you know?” I asked.

“I found out through another channel.” She said.

“What channel?” I asked and Sarah hesitated.

“I can’t discuss that yet.” She said and my jaw tightened.

“You’re asking me to trust you while refusing to tell me how you know about something that nobody on my side told you existed.” I said.

“I understand why you’re suspicious.” She said.

“You should.” I said.

“I’m trying to help you.” She said.

“I know.” I said but I didn’t like the feeling in my gut.

We had already uncovered the symbol, the older companies, the connection to Uncle Will, and the mysterious network that appeared to exist before Victor.

Now Sarah somehow knew about an underground facility that we had only discovered because of a Black Reaper defector.

“Sarah.” I said.

“Yes?” She asked.

CHAPTER 230 2

“If you know something about this place, tell me.” I said.

“will when I can.” She said.

“That’s not good enough.” I said.

“I understand.” She said and the call ended as Derek looked at me.

“What did she want?” Derek asked.

“She says she knew there was an underground facility.” I said and Derek frowned.

“Before we told her?” Derek asked.

“Yes.” I said.

“How?” He asked.

“She wouldn’t say.” I said and Derek stared at the concrete wall.

“That is concerning.” He said.

“It is.” I said and I looked toward Ethan.

“What have you found?” I asked.

“More than I expected.” He said as he held up another folder.

“These records go back years.” He added.

“How many?” I asked.

“At least ten.” He said as I stepped closer.

“Ten years?” I asked.

“Some of the records are older.” He said and my attention sharpened.

“Older than Victor?” I asked.

“Yes.” He said.

I looked around the underground room. The factory was supposed to belong to Victor.

Yet the evidence suggested Victor had inherited something much older.

Something that had been operating long before the Black Reapers became a problem and Ethan continued sorting through the papers.

“There are payments between companies.” Ethan said.

CHAPTER 230-2

“Which companies?” I asked.

“Ridgeway Industrial Supply.” He said and my stomach tightened.

“Blackstone Logistics.” He said and Derek swore quietly.

“What else?” Derek asked.

“Northline Equipment Storage.” Ethan said.

The same names. The same companies that appeared in Uncle Will’s journals.

The same network that had appeared around the harbour and I looked at Ethan.

“Anything else?” I asked as he turned another page.
