Paige’s POV-

The phone rang while I was standing beside the workbench at Lawson Customs.

I had been pretending to work for nearly an hour, although I had barely touched the motorcycle in

front of me.

Every few minutes, I looked toward the road. Every few minutes, I checked my phone. Every few minutes, I told myself that Jace would call when he could. Then his name appeared on the screen.

My hands started shaking before I even answered.

“Jace?” I answered and his voice came through quietly.

“It’s over.” He said as I closed my eyes and for several seconds, I couldn’t speak.

“It’s really over?” I asked.

“Yes.” He said and my knees almost gave way as I gripped the workbench.

“Victor?” I asked.

“Arrested.” He said as I covered my mouth.

“And you?” I asked.

“I’m coming home.” He said.

That was all I needed. The tears came immediately and I had spent months forcing myself to stay strong, because there had always been someone who needed me to hold everything together.

Today, I could finally let go and I laughed through the tears.

“You’re coming home.” I said.

“I promised you.” He said.

“I know.” I said.

“I’m okay.” He reassured me.

“I know.” I said as my voice broke.

“I love you.” He said.

“I love you too.” I said.

“We will see you soon.” He said.

“I’ll be waiting.” I said and the call ended.

stood there with the phone against my chest.

For a moment, I simply breathed. Then I turned toward the office.

“They caught him.” I said and Emma looked up.

“What?” She asked.

“Jace said it’s over.” I said but nobody moved. Then Sophia’s hands flew to her mouth.

“He caught Victor?” Sophia asked and I nodded.

“He’s coming home.” I said.

The clubhouse erupted over the phone almost instantly and Emma screamed as Sophia started

crying.

One of the children shouted that the bad guys were finally gone, and another child immediately asked whether that meant everyone could have a party.

Laughter filled the room. People hugged and families who had spent months sleeping with weapons nearby finally allowed themselves to celebrate.

Someone opened the clubhouse doors and children ran through the room while the adults gathered around each other.

Derek’s wife cried into Emma’s shoulder and Mason’s family hugged him when he called.

Several of the women started making food without anyone asking.

It was chaos. It was loud and it was beautiful.

I stood in the middle of it all and cried softly to myself and Charlotte walked toward me.

“He is really coming home.” Charlotte said and I nodded.

“Yes.” I said so she hugged me.

This time, I hugged her back immediately.

“We made it.” She whispered.

“We did.” I said and Victoria stood nearby with tears in her eyes as Charles was beside her.

He looked relieved. For the first time, I saw something in his face that I hadn’t seen in years.
