the time Charlotte and I returned to Lawson Customs, the place looked nothing like the quiet workshop I had left earlier.

Motorcycles filled the parking area, members of the Iron Vipers stood around laughing, and families were gathered near the open garage doors.

Jace was in the middle of it all.

He had changed into a clean shirt, although the exhaustion from the quarry was still visible in his

face, and he was talking with Derek and Mason while several of the younger club members

celebrated around them.

I stopped beside my truck and Charlotte looked at me.

“You’re staring.” She said.

“I’m thinking.” I said.

“That’s usually dangerous.” She said and I smiled.

“I need to tell him.” I said.

“About the baby?” She asked.

“Yes.” I said and she looked toward Jace.

“Then go.” She said.

“I can’t tell him here.” I said.

“Why not?” She asked.

“Because there are about fifty people around him.” I said and Charlotte laughed.

“Fair point.” She said.

I watched Jace smile at something Derek said and my chest tightened.

He looked happy. He looked safe and he was finally home.

I wanted to tell him immediately, but I wanted the moment to belong to us. I wanted to see his face when he realized he was going to be a father.

I didn’t want twenty people cheering around us. I didn’t want someone interrupting. I wanted to tell my husband privately and I walked toward him.

He noticed me almost immediately.

“There she is.” He said and his smile made my heart race.

He crossed the parking area and wrapped his arms around me.

“You disappeared.” He said.

“I had something to take care of.” I said and he looked toward Charlotte.

“Everything okay?” He asked and I nodded.

“Everything’s good.” I said so he kissed my forehead.

“I missed you.” He said.

“I missed you too.” I said as I looked up at him.

“Jace, I need to tell you something.” I said and he leaned closer.

“What?” He asked but before I could answer, Derek appeared.

“Jace, we need you for a minute.” Derek said and Jace looked at him.

“Right now?” Jace asked as Derek pointed toward the clubhouse.

“It will only take a second.” Derek said as Jace looked back at me.

“I’ll be right back.” Jace said and I smiled.

“Okay.” I said so he kissed me quickly before walking away and Charlotte appeared beside me.

“You almost had him.” She said.

“I know.” I said.

“You’re going to have to tackle him.” She said.

“I might.” I said.

Before I could follow, Mia came rushing out of the office.

“Paige!” She said.

“What happened?” I asked.

“Everyone needs to come inside.” She said.

“Why?” I asked.

“You’ll see.” She said as she grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the office.

The entire staff was gathered there and Ben was holding a large framed certificate.
