“I think that’s the right choice for you.” He said and I raised an eyebrow.

“You aren’t going to tell me what I should do?” I asked.

“No.” He said.

“Good.” I said.

“I’ll support whatever you decide.” He said and I smiled.

“That’s why I love you.” I said and he kissed my forehead.

“How did it feel?” He asked.

“Paige?” He answered.

“Hi, Dad.” I said as his voice softened.

“Is everything okay?” He asked.

“Everything’s fine.” I said and there was a pause.

“I’ve been thinking about what you asked me.” I added as I heard him take a breath.

“Okay.” He said.

“Dad?” I asked and he cleared his throat.

“Are you serious?” He asked.

“I’ve waited a long time to hear you say something like that.” He said and my eyes filled with tears.

“You’re still going to have to earn it.” I said.

“Then we’re okay.” I said and his voice broke slightly.
