Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 126
I took another step back and shook my head. “This is weird. Very weird.” I took another step back. “And I don’t do weird.”
Henry’s smile faltered, and something that looked like concern flickered in his eyes.
“Wait,” he said, taking a step toward me. “This isn’t what you’re thinking. I’m not going to hurt you.”
I raised a hand. “Don’t come any closer, or I’ll scream.”
Theo scoffed. “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.”
Henry turned and shot him a hard look. “Stay out of this.”
He raised both hands and turned away. “Sorry, boss.”
Henry looked back at me. “I didn’t come here to hurt you. You don’t need to be scared of me.”
“You stalked me!” I snapped. “I think I have every reason to be scared of you.”
He slipped a hand into his pocket. “I just wanted to see you again.” His voice softened as his eyes searched my face. “You didn’t call.”
My gaze dropped to the floor.
He was talking about the business card he’d given me. I’d thrown it in the trash and forgotten all about it.
It was a terrible thing to do, but I still carried PTSD from all the situations I’d gotten myself into because I trusted people too easily and always gave them the benefit of the doubt.
“I forgot,” I lied, finally looking up to meet his gray eyes. “I’ve been busy.”
He looked like he saw straight through the lie, but thankfully, he didn’t press.
Instead, he walked toward me and stopped right in front of me. “I’ve been thinking about you.”
Shock rippled through me, and I raised a brow. “Thinking about me?”
