Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend

But all thoughts of that were wiped away as our food finally arrived. Sierra, who hadn’t spoken a word since Alvise’s arrival. sighed in relief. “Oh, this smells so good.” She groaned, wasting no time digging into her beef noodle soup.

We in silence, everyone visibly hungry, except Alvise, who had yet to touch his food and was busy typing God knows what on his phone. It’s as if he could hear my thoughts because, slowly, he lifted his head, his eyes finding mine.

I paused chewing, my breath slowing at the intensity of his gaze. He stroked his chin, held my gaze for a few more seconds before dropping his phone and finally deeming his food worthy of being touched.

I tried to stop staring, but I couldn’t. Not when he was right in front of me, his face relaxed but stoic as he ate, showing ho reaction to tell if he even liked what he was eating. I knew he was aware of my stare because he raised a questioning brow but didn’t look at me.

Embarrassed, I dragged my gaze away, mentally facepalming myself at how obvious I was being. I needed to get my shit together. My brother was literally sitting right across from me, oblivious to the awkwardness between me and his best friend. If I intended to keep it that way, I’d need to do better.

She shook her head quickly, her cheeks flushed. “Uh… no. I…” She trailed off, unsure of what to say. But, as if she decided she didn’t care any longer, she blurted, “This is actually very delicious. Like… it’s the best Chinese food I’ve ever had!”

Alvise’s attention was on me now. Then he raised a brow. “What do you think?”
