Read Arabella and Alvise novel Chapter 317
Ruined By My Brother’s Best Friend
The Mystery Woman
ARABELLA’S POV
I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
My hand faltered on the doorknob, my fingers flexing as I took a closer look at the caller.
She was beautiful.
With light brown eyes, light hair and soft features that were almost breathtaking.
As if she sensed my gaze, her eyes flicked toward me.
I held my breath, bracing myself for her to call Alvise’s attention to me.
But that didn’t happen.
She looked away, replying to something Alvise said in Russian, a soft smile playing on her lips.

My mind went blank as I struggled to contain the different emotions crashing through me all at once.
“Who is that, Alvise?”
She called him by his name.
The air dried from my lungs, my entire body freezing as the woman’s question, asked in English, settled into the bathroom.
Alvise turned immediately, his shoulders tensing slightly as his eyes locked with mine.
I finally found my voice.
“Oh, don’t mind me,” I mumbled, walking into the bathroom and moving past him. “Pretend I’m not
here.”
Feigning interest in my reflection in the mirror, I took another proper look at the woman, committing her face to memory before picking up my toothbrush from the holder and squeezing toothpaste onto it.
After turning off the shower, I walked to the free sink and began brushing my teeth, the weight of Alvise’s gaze still fixed on me.
My stomach was tight, bile rising into my throat, but I refused to let any of it show.
Alvise ended the call seconds later and leaned against the sink.
From my peripheral vision, I could see him watching me.
Interesting.
Once I finished brushing, I rinsed my mouth and toothbrush, returned it to the holder, and then walked out of the bathroom.

He followed me.
Arabella.”
I ignored him, unzipping my dress as I headed into the walk-in closet.
“What?”
“You were eavesdropping on my conversation,” he said, stepping into the closet behind me.

Ignoring the tightness in my stomach, I pushed my dress down my shoulders and let it fall to my feet.
“The last time I checked, it’s a shared bathroom. But excuse my manners.”
I tossed the dress into the laundry basket, goosebumps rising across my skin as the cool air hit me, leaving me clad in nothing but my matching underwear.
“We need to talk.”
I finally turned to look at him, raising a brow.
“Talk about what?”
Alvise scraped his tongue over his teeth, taking off his wristwatch and throwing it on the console table before leaning against the glass panel.
“The conversation you walked into.”
“I didn’t hear anything if that’s what you’re worried about,” I mumbled, unclasping my bra but leaving it on. “I’m not Russian, remember? I’m an outsider.”
His eyes narrowed, a muscle ticking in his jaw.
“That has no relevance to what I want to say.”
“Oh, but it does,” I said, propping my elbows on the console table. “You’re always speaking your native language around me because you know I won’t understand what you’re saying, right?”
“Are you done?”
I wasn’t.
Matter of fact, I was just getting started.
It all finally seemed to make sense.
I might have been crazy, but something in my gut told me the woman he’d been on the call with was Rashell’s daughter.
She’d emphasized that I wasn’t Russian, and even though she never got to finish her sentence, she’d implied that Alvise had something to do with her daughter.
And now… after hearing that he’d once been betrothed to a woman named Albina…

Whatever you’re thinking,” Alvise muttered, snapping me out of my thoughts, his voice hard at the edges. “Its not true.”
“And how would you know what I’m thinking?” I shot back, straightening. “Don’t be ridiculous.”
A dark look crossed his face as he tilted his head to the side.
“Are you talking to me?”
I glanced around the closet.
“I don’t think there’s anyone else in here, is there?”
“I won’t warn you to watch how you speak to me, because I’m already on my last strike with you,” Alvise snapped, his voice so cold that a shiver flitted down my spine.
“I know you are.” I scoffed. “After all, I’m a traitor, right? You think I worked with Danilo.”
“I think?” He chuckled darkly, stroking his chin. “You had a tracker on you.”
My heart dropped into my chest, and I breathed out in disbelief.
“Maybe if you actually spoke to me about it, you’d know I also found out about the tracker today,” I whispered, my voice breaking. “I didn’t do it, Alvise. I never asked Danilo Abeli for help.”
He watched me intently, his piercing eyes searching every inch of my face.
“All the trust I had in you has been broken,” he said, shattering my heart. “Your words don’t outweigh the evidence I saw.”
I bit my lip, shaking my head in disappointment.
He didn’t believe me.
“I found the tracker in your bag myself. You had it on you,” he said harshly, his jaw hardening. “You brought a fucking tracker into my damn room!”
I frowned. “I never took a tracker from anyone!”
“Then how did it get in your bag?”
“I don’t know!” I yelled, so frustrated that I ran both hands through my hair.
I thought back to that night, remembering that I’d gotten into William’s car with my bag.
Did he put a tracker in my bag?
He did it.
It had to be him.
I closed my eyes, the realization sending fear coursing through me.
