Chapter 11: Promised
Dante’s pov
“How could she do this to my dress?” Sasha asked with a frown.
Claim
“Well, she isn’t wrong. You gave it to her, so it is hers to do what she wants.” I said, and she just looked at me but didn’t say anything.
“So, this means that there will be no wedding since your daughter is gone?” My mother asked
Mrs Hale.
“Actually, I think the most important question in this whole thing is whether she is coming
back.” Uncle said.
“She will come back, Jade is stubborn and rebellious, but when the time comes to step up, she always does.” Mrs Hale said. I could tell that she was fuming that Jade left without telling anyone, and that the wedding wouldn’t be happening. But it was as if she wasn’t surprised that it had happened. As if she knew that her daughter would pull a stunt like that.
“Anyway, how do we even know that your daughter will be able to give us an heir?” Uncle asked. I looked at him, and he just shrugged like it wasn’t a big deal. “The oldest one couldn’t. What if it runs in the family?”
Mrs Hale’s face was calm, and she didn’t betray any emotions. She answered casually. “You can have her tested before they get married,”
How can these people be like this? They are talking about my life and someone else’s life like it isn’t a big deal. As if we are not people with emotions but just robots to carry out their
tasks.
This thing could easily be stopped, but everyone wanted to go this very complicated route.
“It won’t matter, it’s already too late.” I said, and all eyes turned on me.
“Jade and I are already married.” I informed everyone, and they looked at me confused.
“What do you mean you are already married?” Sasha asked me.
“Exactly that, we signed the paperwork last night.” I said casually.
If they are going to treat it like it is not a big deal, then maybe we should as well.
“What? You didn’t tell me any of this. You got married without telling me?” Sasha asked me and I looked at her.

“I am not the one who started making decisions without consulting the other. You started this madness, and I am putting an end to it.” I retorted. She was about to say something, but looked down and didn’t say anything.
“Come on, Son, you should know better than that. What if she is like her sister?” Uncle asked
“You will mind your manners, Uncle, you are talking about my mate, and I won’t hear a word against her.” I reminded him. He bowed his head a bit to apologize.
“Well, your uncle doesn’t know how to talk. But he is correct. The whole reason we are doing this is so you can get an heir. What if you marry her, and she can’t give you one? Then this would all have been for nothing.” Mom said.
“Well, I can guarantee you that Jade will give you what you need.” Mrs Hale said, and I frowned at this. “I had her tested when she was 15 years old.”
“You had your 15-year-old daughter tested? Why would you do such a thing?” I asked her and she looked at me.
“I do not like the judgmental look and tone you have, Alpha Dante.” She said, and I scoffed.
“I don’t care about your dislikes. I am asking why you had my wife tested for such a thing at such a young age?” I asked her and she rolled her eyes.
“Jade was training to be the coven leader, and I wanted to make sure that all my efforts weren’t going in vain.” She answered.
“Is that why you chose Jade over Sasha?” Emily asked her sister. “Because you knew that Sasha couldn’t have kids?”
“No, I never had Sasha tested.” She answered, but people didn’t believe her.
“I chose Jade because you saw it yourself, she is brilliant.” Mrs Hale answered with a smile on her face.
“Enough of this, let us not talk about any of this further.” Mr Hale said, and I heard someone chuckle.
“I see you solved this little issue, but you seem to have forgotten something important,” a man said as he walked into the room.
He has been standing at the door for some time and has never said anything in these meetings. He would just stand there and watch.
I believe his name is Anthony. He is also Sasha’s uncle as well.

“What is it, Anthony?” Mrs Hale asked with a frown.
“Jade, last time I checked, she was already spoken for.” He said with a smirk.
I watched as Mrs Hale’s face turned pale, as if she had forgotten something important.

“Your little solution to this little problem has led to another big problem.” He said, and Mrs. Hale’s heart started beating fast. Why is she suddenly scared?
“What are you saying?” I asked Anthony, who chuckled.
“Just that your second wife was already promised to someone else.” He said, and all eyes
turned on Mrs Hale.
“Is this true, Mom?” Sasha asked her mother, who nodded.
“But it was a long time ago, he said he was going to marry her when she turned 20 years old. But he never came, so I completely forgot about it.” She answered. “Well, it’s been 4 years
now.
“Isn’t Jade 24 years old?” Emily asked, and Mrs Hale nodded.
“Maybe he changed his mind.” Emily added, and Mrs Hale nodded.
“This man, who the hell is he?” I asked her and she just shrugged. But I didn’t like the look of fear in her eyes at all.
Who is this man that my wife was going to marry?
“It doesn’t matter who he is, and he won’t be coming anymore. The time we agreed on has passed.” Mrs Hale answered. She was saying one thing, but her face and her heartbeat were telling me something else. She was still scared.
What could scare a woman as fearless as her?
And I also don’t understand this anger rising inside me.
Just the thought that Jade would have belonged to someone else makes me want to find that person and tear them apart.
What the hell is going on?
