Chapter 117: Creating a Monster
Jade’s pov

Flashback: “I will take Jade with me. I am sure that you are not training her properly,” Grandmother
said.
My mother looked at me and I watched how she frowned at this.
“No, I can train her just fine. You tested her, didn’t you? I wasn’t this good, even at her age but she is
amazing,” Mom said.
“Yes, but just imagine how great she would be if I trained her. I turned good for nothing like you and your siblings into decent witches. Imagine what I could do with someone this talented,” Grandma
retorted.
“Mother, Jade is my daughter and frankly I don’t her anywhere near you,” Mom said firmly.
“Well then, maybe I should break the alliance I set for your husband,” Grandma said and then
looked at me.
“If such an alliance breaks, then war will break out. Bad things happen when wars break out, and
guess
who suffers the most, the kids,” Grandma said.
Mom looked at me and I watched how she frowned but then nodded.
“For a week, that is all I can give you. Train Jade for a week and that’s it,” Mom said and then
looked at me.
“I will be fine,” I assured her and she nodded.
I packed my bags and then we drove to my grandmother’s coven.
When my grandfather died and my mother took over as our coven leader.
Grandmother returned back to her maternal home to be the coven leader there since they needed
one.
But she was still very much involved in matters of our coven as well.
We got to her home and the moment we got there someone took my bags.
“We don’t have time to waste. Follow me,” she said and I followed her.
She led me to the forest and stopped in this empty field.
All I could see was nothing but dust on the other side.

They were doing some powerful spell that completely destroyed half of the forest of this town.
I was about to say something when suddenly other old people started appearing out of nowhere.
Not only that, but they were chanting something and I felt my body suddenly freeze.
“What are you doing to me?” I asked Grandmother who smiled.
“Creating the perfect weapon, you have so much talent than your mother. I am sure that you can
survive this, even if you don’t, it will help us see where we made a mistake,” she answered and I
looked.
I am her granddaughter and she is making me a guinea pig.
“Why?” I asked her and she just shrugged at this.
“You are the middle child, they already have a daughter and son. You will be missed, but it won’t
really make much of a difference,” she answered.
I was about to say something but my body started feeling like it had things crawling inside it.
It was painful so I screamed and begged them to stop but no one listened.
I think I passed out somehow in the middle of it and I opened my eyes a few hours later.
I looked around the room and found the same old hags in the room.
“You are awake,” Grandmother said and I looked at her.
“What were you doing to me?” I asked her with tears in my eyes.
I looked at her and they didn’t seem to affect her at all.
She didn’t care that I was screaming and that I was in pain.
All she wanted was to achieve her own goal which I still don’t know what it is.
She mentioned something about a weapon but that’s all I know for now.
“Nothing much, but you need to rest for tomorrow,” she said.
“You are crazy if you think that I will stay here for another moment,” I said and she nodded.
“You can go, but in the state you are in, you will kill anything that’s in your path,” she said and I just rolled my eyes.
I was about to get my phone so I could call my parents when I froze in my
tracks.
Next to my phone was a flower vase, I watched as those flowers died and withered away like it
was nothing.

“If you home like this, then you will be nothing but a ticking time bomb for the people you love,” one
of the women added.
“So, what is your decision little Jade?” my grandmother asked me and I nodded.
I guess I can’t go back home like this and if Mom and Grandmother fight, it could lead to a war.
For the next few days, I went through that torture over and over again.
“When you stop?” I asked my Grandmother.
“When you are the perfect form,” she answered with a smile and I looked at her confused.
What is this perfect form she speaks of?
We headed to that same place as before and this time I didn’t pass out.
I felt this cold breeze wash over my body and suddenly people were screaming.
I opened my eyes and found the old hags running for their lives.
“No, what monstrosity is this?” Grandmother asked looking at me.
I could see fear in her eyes as she was looking at me and I didn’t understand why.
They were all running away from me like I was some sort of monster.
I asked them what was wrong but my voice echoed all across the town.
My eyes landed on my hands and I couldn’t believe what I saw.
They were pale as if I had somehow woken up from the dead.
I ran as fast as I could and everyone I came across ran for their lives.
I got to the guest room and the moment my eyes landed on my reflection I froze.
Looking back at me weren’t those brown eyes I always thought were basic, it was something
completely different.
I didn’t have that brown hair that I loved very much or my father’s tanned skin.
I was pale as a ghost, my entire eye from eyeballs to pupil was black.
My hands had what seemed like claws and my hair was ashy black.
I looked like something that crawled out of a graveyard.
For a day I was locked in that room because no one wanted to get close to me.
Not only that, but I couldn’t turn back to my old self for some reason.

I tried and tried but it didn’t work.
The next day the door suddenly opened and my Mom stood there looking at me.
“Why didn’t you call me?” she asked me and I couldn’t answer her.
Hook and sound like a monster.
“I am sorry, I shouldn’t have trusted her with you,” she said and hugged me.
I just started sobbing the moment I was in her arms.
“I am a monster, she turned me into a monster,” I said and she looked at me.
“Do you want to kill me?” she asked me and I shook my head no.

“I am a pain in your ass and you don’t want to kill me. You are not a monster,” she said and then
smiled.
“You are kind and gentle, nothing will ever change that,” she added.
“I can’t turn back, I tried everything I could but I can’t turn back,” informed her and she nodded.
“I know, but we will figure something out,” she assured me.
“Everyone will be scared of me. I can’t go back to my normal life. If everyone finds out that I am a monster, they will all be scared of me,” I said and she sighed.
“Some people call me a monster too. Are you scared of me?” she asked me and I nodded.
She chuckled at this and then looked at me.
“If you put everything aside,” she added and I shook my head.
What makes a monster isn’t the outside but the inside,” she said pointing at my heart.
“And this world is massive, I am sure that you will find someone who will love your soul. Not your body or anything else, but your beautiful soul. All you need is just one person who will accept you for who you are,” she assured me.
I watched how her smile became even bigger as she looked at me.
“You are back to normal,” she said and I looked at my hands and smiled at this.
“We will figure this out together,” she assured and I nodded.
She took my hand and we walked out and never looked back.
End of flashback.

“There you are, showing your true colors. Once a monster, always a monster,” Grandmother said.
I was about to kill her when a hand held mine and I looked at Dante.
He wasn’t scared but had tears in his eyes as he looked at me.
He pulled me to him and engulfed me in a hug.
“It’s okay, I am here,” he said patting my hand.
“Now, before I wring your neck. GET THE f**k OUT OF MY HOME,” he said firmly.
Is this what my mother meant?
Does this mean that he has accepted me?
