Chapter 124: A broken promise
Chapter 124: A broken promise
Jade’s pov
“You should really stop thinking about Sasha, she did all of this to steal away your happiness,” Addison said.
I looked up at her, maybe she was right about it but I couldn’t get rid of this feeling in my gut.
It feels like I am constantly surrounded by danger or something big is coming.
Honestly, I am so scared that I don’t know what to do with myself anymore.
Is it all in my head?

“You know Dante would have never touched her if she didn’t use any magic. That man only has eyes for you and he has been beating himself up for what happened,” she said and I looked at her.
“I know that, but I don’t know what to do,” I said and Addison sighed too.
“That b***h, she had to mess up everything before leaving,” Addison said.
It’s been a month since she left and just like a few days before she slept with Dante it’s been quiet.
“Well, forget about her. Tom called and he said that he was on his way here and had something important to tell us,” she said and I nodded.
“When was that?” I asked her and she looked at her phone.
“He said he should b
here before dusk,” she answered and I nodded.
I continued doing my work and watched as the day went by quickly.
I wonder, what are doing out there madman?
you
You seem to know so much about us but we know nothing about you.
You seemed to know that Sasha would help you with your plans.
Are you out there colluding with her?
Why did you help her to sleep with Dante?
What do you have to benefit from all of it?
There was a knock on the door and Piers came in running.
I looked at him, his face was as pale as that of a ghost as he looked at me.
“Something happened. The pack border, they caught a scent of blood and they found someone

there,” he said and paused.
“Who did they find?” I asked him and he seemed hesitant and then blurted out the name.
“Tom, they found your best friend Tom. He is badly hurt, I don’t think he is going to make it,” Piers
said.
“Lead the way,” I said and ran after him as fast as I could.
This explains it, he should have been here about an hour ago.
I just thought that he was running behind or he had to stop for some reason.
I quickly ran to the room where Tommy was and I couldn’t believe my eyes.
His intestines were out of his body as if someone was removing them from his body.
They did this to keep him alive just long enough for us to find him.
“Tommy,” was the only word that could leave my lips.
“I am so sorry, I couldn’t keep my promise. I am so sorry,” he said and I shook my head.
“Don’t say that,” I said, and as I took his hand.
“Your hand has always been so cold, it’s refreshing,” he said and I couldn’t hold back my tears.
I can’t save him, the only thing keeping him alive is his will.
“Who did this to you?” Addison asked him.
“Tell me who did this to you so I can kill them. Who the f**k did this to you?” she asked and started breaking down.
I tried to hold in my sobs but I couldn’t do it.
This is my best friend in the whole world.
He knows me better than I know myself, this can’t happen.
“You won’t die, remember what you promised me?” I asked him.
Flashback
“Jade, there is something I want to tell you,” Tommy said and I smiled.
“Tell me another day,” I said trying to avoid the topic and walk away.
“You know what I want to say don’t you?” he asked me and I nodded. “Then let me say it, let me be honest with you,” he said and I frowned at this.

“I like you, I like you more than friends. And I understand that you don’t feel the same way, and that is okay,” he said and I looked at him.
“Then why are you telling me this? This will only make things awkward between us. How will I face you now?” I asked him.
“Remember what you told me a week ago?” he asked me and I thought back to what to a week
ago.
“About how lentils taste like s**t?” I asked him and he chuckled at this and shook his head.
“About how it’s unfair that you get to eat bacon every morning?” I asked him and he continued to laugh at this.
“About how you think I will grow into a great man,” he said and I nodded.
I did say that, and I meant every word I said.
“I wouldn’t be a real man if I can’t handle rejection. Rejection makes a man stronger, and I still get
to have you as my best friend,” he said and I nodded at this.
“Relationships ruin friendships, you are my best friend and I don’t want to ever lose you,” I said and
he chuckled at this.
“Calm down Jade the protector, you own your feelings and I will own mine. And one day you are going to lose me,” he said and I looked at him confused.
“One day I will die,” he explained and I shook my head.
“You can’t die, you are forbidden from dying. I ward off the spirit of death from you,” I said and he
started laughing again.
“Fine, I will never get sick, I will never have a car accident. I will never die, I will live forever and ever so you never lose me. I promise,” he held out his hand. I looked at him and he smiled as I held out
my hand as well.
End of flashback
I looked at Tommy, he was dying but he still had the energy to smile at us. He always had that boy
next door smile in every situation.
“Can I give you one final gift?” I asked him and he smiled at this.
“I would love that,” he said and I held his hand.
I showed him what life would have been like if we got together.
Everything, from going to prom together, our wedding, our first child and also growing old

together.
When I opened my eyes his smile was even more massive than usual.
“That was the best gift in the world,” he said and kissed my hand.
“Hey, i***t, don’t wait for us in the darkness okay? Just walk towards the light,” Addison said and I
nodded.
“Don’t wait for us, just walk towards the light. When we get there, then we will tell you all the great
stories,” I said and he nodded.
“Make sure you don’t join me too soon. Make sure that you live your lives to the fullest,” he said and he started closing his eyes.
He held on for long enough, just so he could say goodbye to us.
The moment he closed his eyes I fell on my knees.
Tommy had always been a great ray of sunshine.
Addison always said the three of us were soul mates and I guess she was right.
It feels like a part of my heart has been ripped out of my chest.
I can guess who did this to him, why Tommy?
He had been so silent for days and the first person he goes after is Tommy.
We stayed with him for hours until Dante and Felix took us away.
“Have some soup,” Mother-in-law said but I couldn’t even think of food at that moment.
“There is a problem,” Piers said once again.
My best friend just died, what other problem could there be?
My question was answered when Sasha walked in through the door.
She looked around and her eyes landed on me and she smiled.
“What is wrong? Did someone die?” she asked as if she already knew.
“Say what you want to say and leave. I still haven’t forgiven you for last time, I really want to break your neck right now,” Dante said to me.
I watched as Sasha seemed unfazed and she nodded.
“Fine, I will say what I want to say. Congratulations Dante, you are going to be a father. And Jade, you are going to be an aunt. I am pregnant, isn’t that great news?” she asked with a smile.
