Dante’s pov

I looked around the room and her scent was now completely gone.

It was as if she never existed or lived in this house.

The only thing that remains of her are the plants that I have been taking care of with utmost care.

I looked around and found a diary where she wrote down everything about how to take care of

them.

It was a lot of trial and error but I finally managed to do it.

Turns out plants need a lot of care and love.

I closed my suitcase and then put it on the bed.

I went downstairs to have breakfast and everyone bowed their heads as I walked in.

“Alpha King, here is your dinner,” an omega said and I just sat down.

“I made the dinner personally,” my mother said and I nodded.

“Oh, there are a few payments I want you to sign on. The first one is for the flowers you send Jade every day,” Piers said and I shook my head.

“Cancel that payment, it’s no longer necessary,” I said and everyone gasped and they all looked at

me confused.

“Finally, you have decided to give up on her,” Sasha said with a smirk.

“The only reason you still live here is because of our daughter. And looking at how she hates your guts as much as we all do, I don’t think she would mind if I killed you,” I warned her.

Sasha looked down and then bowed her head.

“Amazing, we are even scared to speak up because we don’t want to piss off the great Alpha King

Dante,” Addison said.

“Does this mean that you have given up on Jade?” Alec asked me and I shrugged.

I got up because I lost my appetite.

“I will be in my office,” I said leaving the room.

There was a knock on the door and Alpha Howard walked in.

“I will be leaving now,” he said and his eyes landed on me.

“You are Alpha King now, why do you still have that look on your face?” he asked me.

He sighed when I didn’t answer and then sat down.

“I heard that you are giving up on Jade. You will no longer be sending her flowers anymore,” he said

and I smiled at this.

“Yes, I will not be sending her flowers anymore. I will give them to her myself,” I said and his eyes

widened at this.

“Your trip, you are going after Jade aren’t you?” he asked me and I nodded.

It’s been five years now, I think that it is time that my wife comes back home.

“That explains it, you didn’t want to make Sasha your Queen Luna even though the elders were pressuring you,” he pointed out.

“There is only one woman who deserves to be by my side and that is Jade. Only Jade can be my Queen,” I explained and he nodded.

“But it does make me wonder. Back then, why didn’t you go after her? Even after finding out where she was the whole time. Why didn’t you go after her?” he asked me and I sighed at this.

Those words that man said kept me awake every night.

Every word he said really stung, and I realized that it was because he was right.

Back then I was weak, going after Jade and trying to bring her back would have yielded the same

results.

And I believe there is a saying that talks about how repeating the same thing every time and expecting different results is stupidity.

It was clear to me that we didn’t have the manpower to go after him back then.

“Because I didn’t have the right to ask her to come back,” I answered and he looked at me.

He then sighed and didn’t ask any further questions but continued to sip on his whisky.

What right did I have to ask her to take such a huge risk?

How could I even begin to ask her to come and watch as everyone she loves dies?

I was weak, the hardest thing to accept as an Alpha was accepting that I was weak.

Growing up I was always proud of how strong I was.

But when that man said those words that day, it made me realize I wasn’t as strong as I was.

Hell, Jade was called a one-woman army and even she knew she was no match.

I have never been one to chase after power and influence.

I just always wanted to live a quiet life, but then I stumbled on a rare diamond.

Everyone wanted a piece of it and I realized that I couldn’t protect it.

I couldn’t protect the most important person in my entire life.

That’s a sin I won’t ever forgive myself for.

Jade’s pov

“Do I have to be here?” I asked Kane who nodded at this.

“I know that it’s a well-guarded secret that you are a member of the Order. But since a new

member is coming, everyone should be there to welcome him,” he said and I nodded.

“This new Alpha King, I have heard that he is really powerful,” I said and Kane nodded.

“He is really powerful, had a lot of werewolves under his rule às well. They even call him the Alpha King of Alphas, apparently even other Alphas fear him,” he answered and I nodded at this.

I honestly don’t care about who is coming and why.

All I care about is the research that The Order is helping me complete.

It’s the whole reason I am even a part of them, this research will help me get rid of that madman.

Because of The Order, I managed to acquire information about our history that a lot of people can

never get their hands on.

I found out that he has been tormenting us for what seems like centuries.

Every time we are reincarnated, he is right there ready to screw things up.

I will do something that has never been done before in all supernatural history.

I am going to kill an evil spirit, we are told they can’t be killed and can only be banished back to hell.

But I have noticed something, some spirits like the madman have found some cheat code.

You see, almost everything in life seems to have a cheat code.

Take for starters, vampires have cheated death, they are dead but alive just like evil spirits.

And like I said, everything has a cheat code so I could be wrong.

I looked at the text on my phone and then frowned.

Dante has been sending me white lilies every day for the past 5 years.

He never missed a day and yet today I am told that my lily didn’t arrive.

I sighed at this and just put my phone away and followed Kane to the meeting room.

I also took my diary so I can finally finalize my spell and see if it will work or not.

We sat there and I eventually got bored because whoever this person was was taking their

precious.

I felt someone’s gaze on me and I suddenly felt weird.

I felt anxious and excited at the same time but then completely froze when I looked up.

“And this the new member of The Order, Alpha King Dante,” Kane announced and Dante’s eyes

were focused on me.

Wait, did he just call him Alpha King Dante?
