Chapter 13: Sacrificed to my sister’s mate
Jade’s pov
I woke up early as always and went on a run.
I stopped when I got to the cliff and just sat there looking at the view.
All that drinking last night was actually a really terrible idea.
And then I woke up and went on a run like some i***t.
I just sat there and watched as the sun came out.
After a few hours, I decided to get up and go back to the house.
Today, I am leaving.
I will be going to Alpha Dante’s pack. I don’t know how to feel about any of this right now. I know I should be angry, I know that I should feel something, but I feel nothing about any of it.
What does this mean?
As I was walking home, someone suddenly stood in front of me to block me.
I looked up, and standing there was Hannah.
Hannah is Sasha’s best friend, and for some reason, she hates my guts. To her, I am nothing but just the girl who has taken everything away from her best friend.
“You must be happy,” She said with a frown, and I didn’t answer her.
“You like all of this, don’t you? You like the fact that now you also have her husband.” She explained what she meant. I didn’t answer and just stepped to the other side to walk away.
“What kind of sister are you? What do you always want what your sister has?” She asked me, and I looked at her confused.
“What is it that I have wanted that belonged to Sasha?” I asked her, and she scoffed.
“You took away her right. You became coven leader when she is the oldest.” She said, and I sighed.
“I started training when I was 10 years old. I don’t know much, but show me a 10-year-old who has malicious intentions. I didn’t make the decision. My mother and the elders of the Coven made the decision.” I added, and then sighed.

“You are still thinking with your heart and not your mind. Use your common sense, Hannah. You are too old to act like a high school bully.” I said, and then walked away.
“Really? Both you and I know that if you want to, then you can easily find another Coven. If you wanted, then you could have easily said no to all of this.” She yelled, and I turned around to look at her.
“And had I said no, wouldn’t I still be the villain in your head? I would be the girl who refused to help her sister save her marriage. There is no winning with people like you. Whatever I do, you will always find fault in it,” I said, and then walked away. This time, she didn’t say anything. She didn’t argue.
I went to my room and then took a shower, and my eyes landed on my room.
The plants and herbs in my room. I know my Dad and Jay have been taking care of them while I was away, which explains why they are still in such great health even after 6 years of me being away.
These plants and herbs help me regulate my magic when I am sleeping. Not only that, but I find it convenient when I need to make portions, and I don’t need to go to the garden.
I will never ever see this room again in my entire life.
This is the last time, and knowing this feels kind of bittersweet. I have so many good and bad
memories in this room.
I am making the right decision, right?
The more I think about it, the more confused I get. Am I making the right decision?
At times, it feels like I am walking out of the frying pan and directly into the fire.
I took my bags and as I opened my door and picked up the bags, a hand held mine.
“I will do it,” Alpha Dante said, taking away those heavy bags like they were nothing.
“No, there is no need for that. I can do it myself.” I said, and he looked at me.
“I didn’t say you can’t, just that I want to.” He answered. His gray eyes were on me as if he were trying to read me or something.
“What’s wrong?” I asked him, and he just shrugged as he shook his head.
“Nothing, did you sleep well the apple of my eye?” He asked me, and I frowned.
He chuckled after saying this and then walked away.

I should be annoyed because I don’t have a clue what he is talking about. It felt like he was mocking me, and I don’t like being mocked.
But instead, I can’t get over the fact that he looked really handsome when he smiled.
Why did I think it was a good idea to agree to marry him?
One little encounter with him has turned my life upside down.
Now, I am just supposed to sleep with him and not feel anything. Can I do such a thing?
He kissed my neck when he thought I was someone else, and that had been engraved in my
mind.
Because of that small incident, he has been haunting my dreams.
I will admit, for the longest time, I had nightmares every time I slept. But to be honest, I would rather have those nightmares and night terrors than s*x dreams about my brother-in-law.
I sighed, and before I could take a step, Mrs Odell stood in front of me.
“Let’s talk,” She said, and I nodded as I headed to my room where we could talk privately.
“I am guessing even your room is soundproof?” She asked me, and I nodded. “Good, then you and I can talk without fear.”
Her blue eyes held this intensity in them that I could tell she felt strongly about what she was
about to say.
“When we get to my house, I don’t want any drama. You will do your duty, and then, when the time comes for you to leave, then you will do so.” She said, and I looked at her. “Sasha is your sister. You might be angry with her for all of this. But I expect that you won’t want revenge.”
“Why would I want revenge against my own sister?” I asked her, and she smiled.
“Good, I want you to remember this when you get there. That Sasha is your sister, and you shouldn’t destroy her life. A woman destroyed my family and took away my husband. I know how that feels, don’t be the reason your sister feels that pain.” She said and turned to walk
away.
“Isn’t it a little unfair, Mrs Odell?” I asked her, and she turned around to look at me. “You’re comparing me to the woman who stole your husband. Isn’t it a little of a stretch?”
She frowned at this.
“I didn’t seduce your son, and I was miles away from him when all of this was decided. Then what gives you the right to call me a home wrecker?” I asked her.

“I didn’t call you that.” She said, and I scoffed.

“You didn’t need to say it in words, Mrs Odell. But let me make one thing really clear to you. I have no interest in your son. I am the victim in this scenario. I am the one who has been sacrificed to my sister’s mate. And I am the girl who will also be giving you your first grandchild, maybe your only grandchild. Give me a little respect for my sacrifice.” I said, and then walked out of the room.
Why? Why do people always assume that I want to take things from my sister? Why did she say those things?
I am the one who said that I would leave, and this marriage will end when all is said and done. If I wanted to wreck their marriage, then why would I say that?
Is this how I will be treated?

“You won’t be driving,” Alpha Dante said, taking away my car keys and throwing them to his
henchman.
“Excuse me, who the hell do you think you are?” I asked him and he looked at me.
“I am your husband, or do you want to turn me into a widower so early?” He whispered.
“Yes, sister, you had a lot to drink last night. I bet your body is still feeling the repercussions. You can’t drive in that state you are in.” Jay said, and I just sighed.
“Fine,” I said and looked at my father and then everyone else.
“Is this really the last time you will be coming back here?” Aunt Emily asked me, and I
nodded.
“Yes, this will be the last time I am setting foot in this coven.” I said, and my eyes landed on my mother. Her face was blank as usual. I didn’t expect any reaction from her.
“Goodbye, everyone,” I said, and walked off.
“I really think that you shouldn’t be cutting off your family like that. I know what they did wasn’t really good, but breaking ties with them in such a manner isn’t right.” Alpha Dante
said. I turned around and looked at him.
“Do not tell me how to handle my relationships, Alpha. I will remind you that you and I are husband and wife only on paper. It will do you good to remember that and mind your own business.” I said firmly.
“You will not talk to my husband like that. Where are your manners, Jade?” Sasha asked me.
“Manners? You want to talk about manners? Then teach them to your mate.” I said, and then walked to the car.
“Enough, Jade, when we get to the pack, I don’t want you to act like this.” Sasha said, walking to me. “You will behave. As the Luna of that pack, I don’t want any problems.”
I rolled my eyes at this. “You should have thought about that before opening your mouth and handing me over to your mate.”
“I don’t expect you to understand what I did or the reasons I did it. All I am asking is that you do not disrespect my mate.” Sasha said, and I looked at Alpha Dante. His eyes were on mine

“Then tell your mate not to get all over my business.” I retorted, and she looked at me and sighed.
“Just try to get along. Dante is like you in this situation. He wanted nothing to do with this.” Sasha said gently.
“Uncle and Mother, you can use that car, and I will use mine with Sasha and Jade. Felix will drive Jade’s car.” Alpha Dante informed everyone.
I wanted to say that I could ride with that Felix guy but didn’t think it would be a good idea.
I mean I did torture the man for a few seconds and didn’t even exchange a word with him.
I can’t ride with Mrs Odell because I just insulted her. So, do I ride with the guy I almost killed or my sister and her mate, who is also my husband?
How will I even survive the next couple of months?
“Sit in the passenger seat.” Sasha said, getting in the back of the car and sleeping on all the
seats.
I got in the passenger seat and took out a book that I had been meaning to read.
Alpha Dante also got in and started driving.
“Come on, are you telling me that you guys are planning to sit in silence from here to the pack? That’s about 5 hours.” Sasha suddenly said in the back. We didn’t say anything, and I heard her sigh at that.
“Okay, I get it, okay. Jade, you didn’t want any of this, and you don’t believe in love at all. But you guys can be friends,” she said.
“Dante, I know that as a werewolf, the thought of being with another woman that isn’t me must be uncomfortable for you. Especially since the woman is also my sister, but wouldn’t everything be easier if you didn’t hate each other’s guts?” She asked again.
Alpha Dante looked at me, and I went back to reading my book.
I closed my eyes, hoping that it would stop the terrible headache that I had.
“Are you okay?” Alpha Dante asked me, and I nodded.
“I am okay,” I answered.
“No, you are not. Why did you drink? You were so drunk last night.” Sasha said, shaking her
