< Chapter 17 Taste

shouldn’t even think or look at another woman. But Jade consumes my mind and thoughts,

and she is all I can think about.

I never had a sweet tooth, but when she kissed me that day, she tasted like caramel. So l have been craving that taste again.

I looked at her and then at her lips.

What did I do last night?

I wasn’t planning on it at all. I just found myself wanting her, and I couldn’t stop myself.

Self control, one thing I have always been proud of is my self-control. I can hold in my anger.

Alphas are known for being really impulsive people who can’t control their feelings. They show their anger and possessiveness to everyone. But I am not like that. I am a calm person who thinks about the consequences of my actions.

But last night I didn’t think about any of it. All I wanted was just that taste again.

I thought that I would be satisfied if I got that taste again. But now, I want it again and again.

The truth is they are telling the truth. The sooner she gets pregnant, the sooner things will get back to normal. But who the hell am I kidding?

I knew the first time she kissed me that things would never be normal again.

These two don’t seem to realize it, but a storm has arrived in our lives.

“Fine, I will sleep in the same room as Jade. If that is okay with her.” I said, and then looked at Jade, who just shrugged.

“Whatever works for you.” She said, and I looked at her. Her eyes landed on mine and I watched how she blinked for a second. She then looked away.

“But I do have a condition.” I said, and the women in the room looked at me.

“Until Jade gets pregnant, I won’t be touching you Sasha.” I said to my mate, who looked at me confused, surprised, and shocked.

“What do you mean?” My mother asked me and I nodded.

“Exactly that, the circumstance is that I have found myself in a situation where I have to sleep with my mate’s sister. I can’t touch Jade and do all those things with her and then come back and do the same with you.” I explained to Sasha, who looked at her little sister.

“I guess that makes sense.” Mom said, and I looked at Jade, who didn’t seem to care at all.

Sasha was the one who was hesitant, but then nodded. “I understand as well.”

The three women got up to leave my office.

“Jade, stay here for a second. There is something I would like to talk to you about.” I said, and she looked at me confused but nodded.

She sat back down while mom and Sasha left the office.

This is the situation I have found myself in. I am discussing my love life with my mother and my mate.

I took out the documents and then put them in front of Jade.

“An employment contract?” She said, and I nodded.

“I would like you to start working as a nurse at our Pack Hospital. We need all the help we can get.” I said, and she frowned at this.

“I am a witch,” She pointed out, and I nodded.

“I am well aware of that.” I said, and she sighed.

“Your body, as a werewolf, has a lot of secrets.” She explained, and I smiled.

“Don’t worry, soon you will know all the secrets that are in my body.” I said and then winked. I watched how she blushed a little at this, and I found myself smiling.

Wait, when did I become such a flirt?

“I understand your concern, but you are my wife and I trust that you will be a great asset to

the Pack.” I said, and she looked at the contract.

“This one doesn’t have an expiration date.” She pointed out, and I nodded.

“I told you, you can stay here for as long as you want.” I explained and she sighed.

“Can I think about it?” She asked me and I nodded.

“For now, let’s go and have some breakfast.” I said, and we went downstairs.

We sat down and started eating when a few pack people came in.

“Alpha,” They all greeted bowing their heads.

“You are one sneaky bastard, hiding in plain sight like this.” Jade suddenly said.

The room went silent, and we all looked at her confused.

“Honestly, I am a little offended that you even had the courage to come here.” She added.

I looked around to see who she was talking to.

She sighed, and then her eyes landed on one of the guys who had just walked in.

“I don’t like being ignored, especially by a lowlife.” She said, and Ben scoffed at this.

“Who are you calling a lowlife?” He suddenly asked.

“You, that is what you are, isn’t it?” She asked him.

“Wait, why are you suddenly calling our pack member names? Where do you get the audacity?” Olivia asked Jade.

“Yes, who the hell do you think you are?” Ben asked as well.

Claim

“Jade, what are you doing? Why are you suddenly attacking the poor guy? Have you lost your mind?” Sasha asked her sister.

We all turned to look at Sasha, who was talking that none of us paid attention to Ben. By the time I realized it, I wouldn’t have moved fast enough to save Jade.

A knife was headed straight for her neck, but she stopped it midway.

I watched as the knife turned around and, at a speed faster than the first time, stabbed Ben in

the shoulder.

He looked down at his shoulders, and when he looked back up, his eyes were changed now. His eyes were completely red and lifeless.

This wasn’t the Ben we knew.

“There you are, you finally reveal yourself. I told you, a lowlife like you can’t hide from me.”

Jade said with a smile.

What the hell is going on here?
