Chapter 25: Spotlight
Jade’s pov
I ran back to the pack mansion.
“You go in first,” Alpha Dante said gesturing at the bathroom.
“I take forever when I go in there, you shower first,” I said and he looked at me and nodded.
I looked at the time and it was about 5 am which means that Sasha is awake.
I walked to her bedroom and found her busy with some papers.
“I need to talk to you,” I said and she looked at me confused.
“What? Don’t tell me that you and Dante finally slept together. Did you make a mistake?” she asked me and I frowned.
“I am not here to talk about my s*x life with your mate. I am here to talk about the mess you made at the border,” I said and she frowned.
“What mess?” she asked me and I sighed as I looked at her.
“Do you even know how badly you messed up?” I asked her and she sighed.
“It was a mistake okay, they asked if I could strengthen the border and I had just gotten married. Should I have said no?” she asked me and I scoffed.
“You should have told them the truth that you don’t know how,” I answered.
“Then what use would I be? Yes I am mated to Dante because of the mate bond but it was also because I was a witch,” she said and I scoffed.
“Exactly, he mated with you for an alliance between his pack and your Coven. Why not get someone in the coven to do it?” I said her.
“And bother Mom?” she asked me and I sighed at this.
“Tommy can do that, Aunt and uncle can do that spell and so can Jay. You should have asked one of them,” I said.
“Are you here to tell me about how much I f****d up? Just fix the border,” she said and I chuckled at this.
“It’s not that easy, your magic has made it unbalanced. An entire new spell would have to be

created,” I said and she frowned.
“I don’t get it, how could that be possible?” she asked me.

“You didn’t take into consideration the power of the witch that made the border you found,” I pointed out and she panicked.
“Fine, I will just tell Dante that the wall need maintenance,” she said and then looked at me.
“You can do, you can fix the border. Then everything will be okay. No one was harmed, so did you have to come to me and make me feel so guilty?” she asked me and I sighed.
“During the time when the border was weakened. An evil spirit entered Ben’s body and because of that, the poor boy is now dead,” I said and her eyes
widened.
“That wasn’t my fault,” she said and I sighed at this.
“Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t but a person is dead. The border would have expelled the evil spirit out of him. But that is history, if one spirit could enter then what’s stopping others?” |
asked her.
I watched as her entire face turned pale and she looked at me.
She held my hand and started sobbing.
“Please help me fix this, if Dante finds out then he won’t spare. He cares more about this pack and his family and I put them in danger,” she said.
“Don’t tell him,” she begged and I frowned.
“Do you
think I would tell him such a thing? I came here so you can come up with a solution. Make up a story, a possible way to how the evil spirits could have passed the border,” I said
and she nodded.
“Will you fix the border?” she asked me and I nodded.
“We will do it together,” I said and she looked at me confused.
“Just like back then,” I said and she looked at me.
“Are you sure? I mean I will get all the glory for this,” she said and I sighed.,
“You are their Luna, I am no one. They need to trust you and not me,” I said and she smiled as she hugged me.
“Thank you Jade,” she said and then I heard her sigh.

“I will make sure that I talk to everyone, I want you to be there and we can fix this mess,” she said with a hopeful smile.

“I did this because you are my sister. I am against everything you did, someone died because
your mistake. When you don’t know how to do something, tell people,” I said and then stormed out.
I got to my room and found Alpha Dante getting out of the shower.
“You seem angry,” he said and I looked at him.
“Why would I be angry?” I asked him and he just sighed.
“I don’t know, but you have been like that since we left the pack border,” he said and I just shrugged and walked to the bathroom.
I sat in Alpha Dante’s office an hour later because Sasha called a meeting.
“What’s wrong Sasha?” Felix said and my sister looked at me but I ignored her.
“I have been thinking about it ever since what happened with Ben. And today Jade confirmed it, I think whoever put that thing inside Ben somehow managed to weaken the border,” she explained to them.
“Is that why you were concerned this morning?” Alpha Dante asked me and I nodded.
“I didn’t understand completely, but Sasha explained everything,” I answered.
“And because of it, I think that there could be more evil spirits than we anticipated,” she added.
“What? You are saying that more of those things could have entered our people?” Piers asked and Sasha nodded.
“I will go with Jade and she will help me strengthen the border, this time I will make sure that not even a fly will be able to come through,” she explained.
“Okay, about those other things. How do you propose that we find them? Will this new border show them to us?” Felix asked her.
“No, all it will do is to prevent any more from entering,” she answered.
“Can we go and do that now?” Alpha Dante asked and Sasha nodded.
We went to the border and both my sister and sat down.
We both started chanting the spell as I repaired the border.

Flashback
“What are you doing sister?” I asked Sasha whose eyes were focused.
“Trying to untie this knot with my magic. I was watching a movie last night and forgot to practise,” she said with a smile.
“Why are you practising now?” I asked her and she sighed.

“I am 12 years old now. Mom wants to introduce me as the new Coven leader,” she said and I
smiled.
“I am glad I am not the oldest. Imagine standing in front of all those people,” I said and she shrugged.
“I like it, it’s like I am on the spotlight,” she said and I nodded.
She got up and went to the bathroom for a second and I looked at the knot.
I closed my eyes and chanted the spell since I had been practising it.
I opened my eyes and found Sasha standing there with a smile on her face.
“I have an idea,” she said and then I frowned at this.
“You will do the spell and I will just lip sync,” she said and I frowned.
“Isn’t that cheating?” I asked her and she shook her head.
“It’s helping your older sister, come on, you can do it right?” she asked me and I nodded.
“But won’t anyone suspect us?” I asked her and she shook her head.
“No one will suspect that a 10 year old can perform such a spell,” she said and I nodded.
An hour later, she went to the place and I joined her and performed the spell on her behalf.
“Amazing, you will make an amazing leader,” I heard people say.
I went back to my side which was by my parents and found my mother looking at me.
She didn’t say anything but she looked at me and then at Sasha.
I was 10 so I had no idea why she was looking at us that way.
End of flashback
I finished the spell and then got up along with Sasha.

I looked at her as she touched her head and Alpha Dante ran to her side.
“Are you okay?” he asked his mate and she nodded.
“Just feeling a little lightheaded,” she answered and he nodded.
We went back to the pack mansion and it was time for breakfast.
“I don’t know what book to read, I will be bored all day,” Tia said with a frown.
“I have some files you can look at,” Alpha Dante said and she shook her head.
“Jade, do you have any book recommendations?” she asked me.
I was about to answer when Alpha Dante started laughing.

“I think she does, you were reading a book last night before bed? No, it was an audiobook, what was it’s name again?” he asked me with a smirk.
“You mean the book called Why women kill?” I asked him and he chuckled a bit.
“I think that was the name,” he said and then looked down to eat his food.
I looked up and found everyone staring at the two of us.
Did I do something wrong?
