Jade’s pov

“I knew you would come to see me eventually,” I said looking up at Addison.

“Tell me that I didn’t make a mistake,” she said and I just sighed.

“How can I tell you that? My life is a mess,” I said and she nodded as she sat down.

“I don’t believe in this mate bond thing,” she said and I looked at her carefully.

“No, I would have said yes. I mean he is handsome with that blond hair and blue eyes,” she said and

I smiled at this.

“Then you have your answer,” I said and she sighed at this.

“What about you?” she asked me and I looked at her confused.

“You have feelings for Dante,” she said and I chuckled at this.

“What are you talking about? I don’t have feelings for my brother-in-law,” I said and she didn’t

believe me.

“When I called you that day, he had just kissed you. You had this light in your eyes I have never seen,

she explained and then frowned.

“Last night when you overheard him talking with Sasha. It hurt your feelings, that’s why you changed your dress,” added.

“There is no such thing, I don’t have any feelings for him,” I denied her accusations but she scoffed.

“Then why didn’t you kiss that guy from the club? I watched how he tried to kiss you multiple times but you didn’t let him,” she said.

“I know you better than anyone, and I also know that this isn’t good for you,” she added.

Do I have feelings for Alpha Dante?

I mean yes I do find him attractive but who wouldn’t?

He is tall, handsome and not to forget all those muscles.

“You are thinking about him now aren’t you?” Addison asked me and I looked at her.

“No,” I answered but she just rolled her eyes.

know how your sister is. These people, they will take advantage of you,” she said and I smiled.

She talks like I am a child, how can anyone take advantage of me?

“I heard people talk about how your sister repaired the border. You and I both know that she

doesn’t even have enough magic experience to string together a barrage,” she added.

“You did it for her, didn’t you? And like always, you let her have all the glory. Why do you do it?” she

asked me.

“She is my sister, and let’s not talk about this anymore,” I said and then sighed.

She stayed with me for some time and then we decided to head back for lunch.

When we walked in, all eyes were on us.

Felix’s eyes never left hers, I could see the hope and sadness in his eyes.

I guess it is also a curse to them too.

“I have something to say,” Addison said and then she looked at me.

“I won’t reject you, but I also won’t be jumping into a relationship with a stranger. You have a year, if by then I am not madly in love with you and I want out. Then I will do so,” she informed him.

“I am mostly staying here for Jade, because if I leave then she will be used and then thrown out,” she said and I sighed.

“Thank you, I promise that I won’t let you down,” Felix said with a smile as he walked towards

Addison.

He was about to hug her but she held out her hand.

“Let’s start by maintaining a safe distance,” she said and he nodded.

He then looked at me, he seemed grateful and I don’t know why.

I sat down close to Addison which was far from my sister and her mate.

I guess his words did kind of hurt me, maybe that is why I reacted that way this morning.

But that doesn’t mean that I have any kind of feelings for him.

“Jade, I am sorry about this morning. When we were talking, none of us even thought about you,” Tia said and I looked at her.

“It doesn’t matter,” I said and Addison frowned.

“Of course it matters, they called you his f**k buddy indirectly. Everything they said about that girl implies to you as well. You are helping their brother and this is their opinion of you,” Addison said

with a frown.

“Could you stop making the matter worse?” Sasha asked Addison who frowned.

“Which matter? Now your sister’s life is a matter. You sat here and watched as they humiliated her and called her a f**k buddy,” Addison retorted.

“They weren’t talking about her, and what Jade is doing is for the good of the pack and the coven. You can’t compare it to meaningless hookup,” Sasha retorted.

“Amazing, is that what you tell yourself to feel better? Is that what you tell yourself to sleep better at night?” Addison asked her.

“I don’t expect you to understand, you don’t know what it is like being a leader. I am Luna of this pack, it is my duty to protect them,” Sasha said.

“Oh yes, the amazing Luna. What have you ever done to protect them?” Addison asked her.

“Enough, I will not argue with you here,” Sasha said and Addison scoffed.

“I did what any leader would have done to save their people. What else could I have done?” Sasha

asked.

“You could have let him marry anyone else. Someone who was probably willing and wanted to do all of this. He could have waited until one of his brothers was ready to take the title of Alpha,”

Addison answered,

“But no, instead you chose to take away your sister’s freedom. You can fool everyone but not me. You knew that your mother would force her, you knew that she would be left with no choice,” she added.

I watched as tears started welling up in Sasha’s eyes.

“Okay, I am the enemy. I am the bad guy then,” she said and I scoffed at this.

All eyes turned to me and I looked at my older sister.

“I have lost my appetite,” I said and stood up to leave the room.

“You also think the same right, Jade? That I am a terrible human being?” she asked me.

I stopped walking, “I am not one to judge,” I said.

I then turned around to look at her and then smiled.

“All I know is that if I were in your position, I would have rather let my marriage end. I would have found another way to save the alliance without taking away your freedom and putting you in the position you put me. I would have died rather than do you any injustice,” I answered and then

walked off.

“And unlike you, she was an actual leader, ” Addison added and followed behind me.

Honestly, I want to get as far away from all of this.

I tried holding in my anger, but hearing them talk about me like that.

Hearing them talk about how other people don’t matter all that matters is the mate bond.

Hearing Alpha Dante saying that he can’t bring himself to sleep with me.

All those words, as if I am not a person but just an object to them.

How can my own sister use me like this?
