Chapter 56 Serve and protect 2

Chapter 56: Serve and protect

Dante’s pov

“What is your problem? You are so hellbent on ruining Sasha that you would even tell such les

Vanessa said.

“Lies? The only people lying are the two of you,” Addison and I looked at them.

“Wait a second, what is going on here? Addison, what are you trying to say? Felix asked his mate

“Exactly what you heard, Sasha can’t perform such complicated spells to save her life,” she explained to her mate.

“Really? If that’s the case then ask Jade. You are accusing me of taking the credit for all her work Now ask Jade right now if I was only putting on a show,” Sasha said confidently.

Jade was looking down and I watched how she looked at her friend.

“She won’t tell you the truth, she has been brainwashed,” Addison said.

“Brainwashed? What do you have against me? What did I do to you that you would say such things?” Sasha asked Addison.

“This is so confusing, you are saying one thing but the parties involved are saying something else.”

Mom said.

I looked at Jade, she hadn’t said a word and I could tell that she was sick.

“Enough,” I said, and then the room went silent and I looked at Addison.

“How do you know this for certain? Tell us for certain what you mean. How is Sasha taking credit for any of this?” I asked her.

“Yes, I mean we have seen it and heard it. The two of them were chanting spells together and now you are saying that only one was actually performing the spell,” Piers supported.

“Magic is energy, it cannot be created or destroyed but can be moved from one object to another,” she said and then sighed.

She took a glass and then a bowl that was on the table.

“But it is also like water,” she explained.

“If you pour water into a glass like this one. It takes the shape of the glass, magic is also like that,” she explained.

“The spell is the glass, the same way water doesn’t pour itself into a glass and someone needs to do it same goes with magic. The more complicated the spell, the more energy it consumes. The spell they did last night, is the same as if I was trying to fill an entire ocean with water and the only thing I have is a glass. Imagine the power it would take for me to fill it,” she explained.

She then took another glass that was empty.

She started pouring water into a glass but also raised the empty glass and did the same thing.

“That is what they are doing. Jade is doing all the work while Sasha is pretending to be doing the

same,” she added.

“In other words, they have been deceiving us?” I asked Addison who looked at Jade.

“Yes, they have been deceiving you,” she answered and my eyes landed on Jade.

“Don’t you have anything to say for yourself?” I asked her and she didn’t answer.

I then looked at Sasha who was also looking down.

She looked up and had tears in her eyes and she started sobbing.

“I am sorry, I just wanted everyone to accept me. Everyone here doesn’t treat me or respect me as their Luna. I just wanted them to respect me,” she said.

She tried reaching out her hand to touch me but I moved it.

“You lied to me,” I said and she started crying even more.

“I am so sorry,” she said and then fell on her knees.

“Please forgive me,” she said but I couldn’t believe a word she was saying.

When Addison was telling us and trying to explain she called her a liar.

She was determined to lie to us for as long as she could.

I looked at Jade, she is very pale and I can tell.

The last time something like this happened she was in a lot of pain.

She knew that I would question why she was in pain like this.

She knew that I would want answers so she went to sleep in Addison’s room.

“Jade, take off that sweatshirt you are wearing,” I said to Jade who looked at me.

“Take it off, I don’t like repeating myself,” I said and she didn’t say anything.

“I don’t have time for this drama,” Jade said and got up.

I also got up and walked towards her and she looked at me.

I held the sweater and tore it off her body.

Luckily she was wearing something underneath but I saw what Addison wanted me to see.

I heard everyone gasp the moment they saw it too.

“That is what magic does, especially forbidden magic,” Addison said.

Jade’s arms were covered in red marks.

“Oh gosh, that must be really painful,” Mom said and I looked at Jade.

I picked her up and went upstairs to our room and then placed her on the bed.

I tore off the shirt she was wearing and just as I guessed it was covering her entire body.

I caught Addison’s scent às she came into the room.

Her eyes landed on a half-naked Jade and she sighed.

“I bought you this, we made it last night,” Addison said.

“I am sorry Jade, but someone had to speak up,” she added and then walked off.

I walked towards Jade and sat on the bed beside her.

“You lied to me, you deceived me,” I said and she didn’t answer.

I took her hand and started absorbing her pains and I could feel how excruciating it was.

I got up and walked out to the balcony because of how furious I was.

She was in pain all this time and didn’t even think of telling me.

“Aren’t you going to defend yourself? Say something,” I said when I walked back in.

“At 10 years old, I was named the future Coven leader. It’s different than being named Alpha, when you are named Alpha it’s just a title,” she suddenly said.

“But when you are a coven leader, it’s almost the same as being one. You need to make decisions

and a lot is put on your shoulders. I couldn’t fail, because it meant that someone else would get the title,” she explained.

“What does that have to do with you lying to me?” I asked her.

“One of the things I was taught at that age was to serve and protect everyone,” she explained.

Those words, those are the exact words I said to her.

“Does that mean that you can lie to me?” I asked her.

“You hurt me with your words, wasn’t that to protect your sister?” she retorted.

“She is your Luna, I merely wanted her to have a good reputation. I wanted people to look up to her and respect her,” she added.

I looked at her, she hadn’t slept all night and she seemed tired.

I sat down next to her on the bed.

“Let’s help her sleep,” Onyx said and I nodded.

“I am going to put you to sleep, you need to rest,” I said and she smiled.

“I knew you had other abilities,” she said and I smiled as well.

I touched her and Onyx did his work and she drifted off to sleep.

I caught Sasha’s scent and there was a knock on the door a few seconds later.

I opened the door and stood outside so as to not disturb Jade.

“I am truly sorry, but I just wanted everyone to respect me. I can’t give you kids but Jade can. I was scared that you would prefer her over me,” she said and I sighed.

“I don’t want to talk about this,” I said and turned to leave but she held my

hand.

“You are doing it now, you are choosing her over me,” she said and I turned around to look at her.

Was she always like this?

When did my gentle mate become so shallow?

“You carried her to her room. But you can’t even look at me,” she said and I sighed.

“You saw that she was hurt right?” I asked her and she didn’t answer.

“And Jade is my wife, how I handle this with my wife is none of your business,” I said firmly.

“Do you

think you are being fair? She also lied and deceived you. But here you are taking care of her

and punishing me,” she said sobbing.

“You are right, what Jade did was deceptive but what you did was repulsive,” I said and watched how her eyes widened.

“You took advantage of her love for you. Took advantage of the fact that she would do anything to help you. She did what she did out of love but you did it out of greed,” I said.

“Are you calling me greedy?” she asked me and I nodded.
