Chapter 64: Different
Jade’s pov
I watched how he smiled and then composed himself.
“Well, you are a feisty one aren’t you?” he asked me and I just shrugged.
“Well, Alpha Dante, is it okay that I have returned home?” he asked Dante.

“Yes, it is your home. You are welcome anytime,” Dante answered and he smiled as he sat down.
“Bring me a plate,” he yelled to the people who were busy bringing food to the table.
I looked around and it seemed as If everyone else had lost their appetite.
But not Stephen, he was eating away with no problems at all.
“Come on everyone, eat before the food gets cold,” Mrs Odell said and her eyes landed on me.
She just smiled at me as if telling me thank you.
The truth is that I don’t like bullies at all, people who use people’s wounds against them.
Bringing up Mr Odell, he knew how that was a sensitive topic to everyone.
Hell, no one brings up it here at all and I never asked.
But ever since he got here he has probably mentioned it 3 times.
And the dark magic, he is the reason that an innocent person had to lose his life.
But how did he even manage to do that?
One thing is certain, the owner of the magic isn’t really powerful.
Evil spirits are easy to summon which is the most annoying thing ever.
Jay and his friends once summoned three as a joke as well.
So it will be hard to narrow it down to people who could be working with him.
Not only that, he somehow knew that the barrier was weakened.
But how?
How on earth could he have known that?
Well, all these questions, I hope I find the answers before it is too late.
Everyone started eating and I looked up to find Sasha looking at me.

“Is everything okay sister?”I asked her and she nodded.

“Everything is just fine, you should add more broccoli to your food,” she said handing me the
broccoli.
I looked at it and shook my head.
“No thank you,” I said and she chuckled at this.
“I don’t understand your sudden fear of vegetables. You ate them all the time when you were
young,” she said and I nodded.
“It wasn’t by choice, Mom would force me to eat all those things,” I answered with a frown.
“You only ate vegetables?” Mrs Odell asked me and I nodded.
“You only ate vegetables?” M
“Well, not only but my meals consisted of a lot of vegetables,” I answered her.
“What do you mean your meals?” Piers asked me.
“Jade had a special meal plan that Mom created for her. It was to help her stay in shape for being
the Coven leader,” Sasha answered him.
“Special meal plan? More like a hellish meal plan. She wasn’t allowed to eat anything fun. And the meals were so repetitive that it drove her crazy,” Addison said.
“So, why was your younger sister chosen as the coven leader and not you?” Stephen suddenly
asked Sasha.
“Well, Jade is better at magic than me,” Sasha said and I could tell she didn’t feel comfortable
talking about it.
“Huh, it seems like you can’t win against Jade. She is better at magic than you and now she can give your mate a child that you can’t,” he retorted.
“Enough,” Alpha Dante suddenly said and he took a deep breath to calm himself down.
“That is my mate you are talking about,” he reminded Stephen.
“Oh yes, sorry about that. But I do have a question, one last time. Jade is so much better than you.
Aren’t you
scared that she is even better than you when it comes to f*****g your mate? What if she
is better than you in bed?” he asked with a chuckle.
I could feel how angry Alpha Dante was getting at this.
I reached under the table again and squeezed his hand one last time.
This is exactly what people like Stephen want, they want to get on your last nerve.

They have fun when they taunt you and when you react.
The best thing to do in this case is to not react.
This is probably hard for Dante considering that they are criticizing his mate.

“Jade is my younger sister, there are things she is good at that I am not. But there are also things I
am good at that she can’t do,” Sasha responded gently.
“As for the s*x part, I don’t think that it is any of your business,” she added.
“Yes, and anyway. Sasha and Dante are mates. No one can compete with the mate bond,” Vanessa
said and looked at me.
Amazing, she was quiet the whole time but the moment the chance comes to take a jab at me she
does it.
“Is that so? Well, I am glad to hear that,” Stephen said and his eyes landed on me.
“No one can compete with the mate bond,” he repeated Vanessa’s words to me. I didn’t show it on
my face but those words got to me.
I let go of Dante’s hand under the table and continued eating my food.
I sat in the bathtub and I had only one question in my mind at that moment.
I know that Stephen is up to no good but is it my business?
I mean how does it concern me what he is planning to do?
The bathroom door opened and Alpha Dante stood there looking at me.
“Can I join you?” he asked me and I nodded as I made some space for him.
He came into the bathtub and I rested my head on his chest.
It is my business, anything that concerns Dante is my business, especially his safety.
Not because he is my husband or my sister’s mate.
But because this man will be the father of my child.
Even though I won’t raise that child, I want it to be safe and sound.
“I sensed dark magic on Stephen, I believe it’s the same dark magic that put that thing inside Ben,”
I informed him and felt as he tensed up.
“Are you sure about this?” he asked me and I nodded.
“Yes, I am sure. Whoever, I need to somehow find a way to be able to narrow down the witch that

performed the spell,” I answered.
He pulled me even closer and buried his head on my neck.
“I hate him,” he said simply and I smiled.

“I gathered that much, I just met the guy and he is already my least favorite person in this world,” I
retorted and felt as he smiled.
“This dark magic you sensed, will it help me get rid of him once and for all?” he asked me and I
agreed.
“Well then, do what you must and tell me if there is any way I can help you. I on the other hand will
look into what he has been up to in all these years,” he said and I nodded.
We got out of the bathtub and he helped dry me off while I closed my eyes.
I honestly don’t know if I am ready to see him naked.
“I am wearing a towel,” he said, and I opened my eyes and he smiled at this.
He kissed my forehead and then we went to the walk-in closet.
“How is it different?” I asked him and he looked at me confused.
“I mean s*x, how is it different from when you are having it with your mate and when you are having
it with a normal girl?” I asked him.
That question has also been weighing on me as well.
I watched as Alpha Dante frowned at this.
“I don’t know,” he answered and I looked at him confused.
“You have slept with other women before my sister. Are you telling me that there is no difference?”
I asked him and he nodded.
“Which is weird, it should be different but for some reason, it is not,” he said genuinely confused.
“You know today, she called me to her room and I couldn’t even touch her. Even looking at her in
that state felt wrong,” he said and then looked at me.
“What do you mean it felt wrong?” I asked him.
I shouldn’t be asking such things but I can’t help but feel curious.
“It felt like I was cheating on you. And also, I had made it clear to her that as long as you are here !
will not touch her,” he said and walked towards me.

“But it’s different with you, it should feel wrong on so many levels but it doesn’t. Why is that?” he
asked me.
How on earth am I supposed to know that?
