Dante’s pov

“Are you only saying that to make me feel better?” she asked me and I shook my head.

I didn’t even want to tell her any of those things.

I just found myself telling her everything and it is the truth and nothing but the truth.

I watched how she looked down and I made her look at me.

“Tell me, what is wrong?” I asked her and she just shook her head.

“It’s nothing,” she answered but I could tell that she was lying.

I kissed her forehead and placed her on the ground so she could get dressed.

I handed her my shirt because I like it when she wears my clothes.

We both got dressed and went to bed.

I tried sleeping but I couldn’t sleep at all.

So I just sat up and looked at Jade who was sound asleep.

I don’t understand anything that is happening right now.

First I felt this attraction to Jade and now I don’t feel any attraction towards my mate.

It’s like the deeper my attraction for Jade the harder it is for me to connect with my mate.

This explains everything, the reason I was so quick to forgive Jade but I couldn’t forgive Sasha.

It wasn’t because I felt betrayed or anything towards her.

Hell, I felt more betrayed by Jade more than anything.

The reason I was angry with her was because it was the perfect excuse.

But because I couldn’t stay away from Jade I forgave her in a matter of seconds.

Hell, I was even more angry that she was hurt than the fact that she lied.

I was angry that their lies were causing her pain.

“Yes, I want bacon,” Jade murmured in her sleep and I smiled at this.

I don’t understand what is wrong with me.

“What is wrong son?” Dad asked me and I just sighed.

“Is it girl problems? I can only help if you tell me,” he added.

“No, I don’t have any girl problems,” I answered and he nodded at this.

performance problems?” he asked me and I looked at him surprised.

“Hell no, and can I never hear that word coming from your mouth?” I asked him and he chuckled.

“I meant at school,” he retorted but his smile said otherwise.

“It’s just that I overheard people saying that Stephen should be the Alpha and not me,” I explained

and he nodded.

“But you are my son, the tradition is that the position goes to the child of the previous Alpha. In your case that is me,” he said and I nodded.

“But what if people still want Stephen to take over?” I asked him and he smiled.

“Am I a great Alpha?” he asked me and I looked at him confused.

He raised his brow as if edging me to answer and I nodded.

“Why am I a good Alpha?” he asked me and I thought about it.

“You are just and fair, not only that but you are easy to approach and are very brave. Oh yes, you are also selfless. You put your people before your needs,” I answered and he nodded.

“When you look at those things. Do you still believe that Stephen is fit to be an Alpha?” he asked

I shook my head because Stephen was the opposite of everything I said.

“You heard those people that said that. But have you heard the ones that think you would make a great Alpha?” he asked me and I shook my head.

“Well, here is one in front of you. I know you will make a great Alpha Son. And I will be here, I will be here for you when you need guidance. I will be your secret weapon,” he added and I smiled at this.

“Do I need to have ‘the talk’ with you? I mean explain everything?” he asked me laughing as I ran out of his office.

It’s been 12 years since he was gone and I had never thought about him.

I never let myself think about him at all.

But I would have loved it if he kept his word and was here today.

I looked at Jade and I realized something as well.

Had he been here, then she wouldn’t be here with him.

He wouldn’t have allowed this madness that I agreed to.

I agree that it was my greed that made me allow this marriage to happen.

I acted like I was doing it for my family and my mate but I was doing it for me.

I wanted her around me and I lied to myself just to make it happen.

“We can ask someone else, there are people here who can tell us,” Onyx said.

“Which people?” I asked him and he seemed to think about it.

“Your Uncle, Mr Jones who was your father’s beta. Those two are like father figures to you,” he

explained.

That could work but I don’t think I can wait until tomorrow.

“You don’t need to wait until tomorrow, let’s go now,” Onyx said and I frowned.

I looked at the time and it was almost midnight.

Should I wake up people just because I want to ask them about s*x?

I got off the bed and walked to his house which wasn’t that far.

I was about to knock on the door but he opened it right away.

up,” he whispered and I nodded.

We walked for some time until we were far enough that I was sure no one would hear us.

“I am having feelings,” I tried to explain and he looked at me confused.

“For Jade, I have really strong feelings for her. Feelings that I didn’t have or have for my mate,” I

explained and he looked at me and sighed.

“That sounds serious, these feelings? How do they make you feel?” he asked me and I thought

about it.

“Scared and anxious,” I explained and he looked at me confused.

“Why is that? Jade is your wife, having feelings for her could help your bond,” he explained.

“But these feelings, the more I feel for Jade. The more distant and detached I feel for my mate,” I

explained and he sighed.

“So this fear and anxiety, you are scared that you are turning into your father?” he asked me and I

nodded.

He then started laughing at this and I frowned.

Why is he laughing at my pain?

“Infidelity is not inherited. You are nothing like him because you are trying to understand these feelings. And the person you have feelings for is your wife,” he explained and I nodded.

“Do you have any more questions?” he asked me and I nodded.

But how do I even begin this one?
