Jade’s pov

“Don’t do that,” I said to Dante who was busy kissing me.

“Why not?” he asked me and I just rolled my eyes.

“Because my scent will be all over you and yours will be on me,” I explained and he sighed.

“You are a witch, you can take care of that,” he said and I smiled as I looked at him.

I watched as he suddenly frowned and then looked at me.

“I guess you have to do it now. Stephen is on his way here,” he said and I nodded.

I closed my eyes and erased any traces of Dante’s scent in the room.

When I opened my eyes he was already gone from the room.

Someone knocked on the door and then I went and opened it.

Stephen stood there with his usual smug smile.

“Hello, can we talk?” he asked and I opened the way for him. ›

He walked in like he owned the place and then sat on my chair.

“What do you want to talk about?” I asked him.

I tried being as hostile as possible so he doesn’t suspect anything.

The whole point of this is to make him believe that he is the mastermind of everything.

But the truth is that I am the one controlling everything.

“No need to be so hostile,” he said a little amused.

“You should really smile more,” he added which made me roll my eyes.

“I really don’t have much to smile about,” I retorted and he chuckled at this.

“Yes, I heard something interesting. Apparently, it’s either you do this or you die,” he said and I

sighed.

“Yes, that is correct,” I answered and he looked at me amused.

Well, he doesn’t even realize it but he has just exposed himself.

Had I not seen what I saw last night then I would have figured it out thanks to his big mouth.

“I heard that your own mother did so,” he added.

“What do you want? Are you here to remind me of my misery? Get straight to the point,” I said and he just chuckled.

“I like you and I would like us to be friends,” he said and I looked at him.

“And why would we do that?” I asked him and he just shrugged.

“Because you and I are alike. You want your freedom and I want my throne,” he answered.

“If you help me get my throne then I can help you,” he answered and I looked at him confused.

“What do you mean that you can help me?” I asked him.

“Well, if I become the Alpha of this pack then I can set you free,” he answered and I scoffed.

“That doesn’t solve my problem. I can walk out of this place right now if I want to. The problem is

that I would be turned a rouge witch,” I pointed out to him.

“I can help you find a coven, I have a lot of connections,” he answered and I looked at him and

sighed.

“You think finding a coven is that easy? I am a witch too, I know a lot of coven leaders but it is not

that easy,” I explained to him.

It is true joining a coven is not that easy.

That is why that woman from years ago died before she could find one.

There are a lot of requirements for one to join a coven.

The most important thing to note is that our magic is linked closely to our ancestors.

When a new coven member is born they are presented to the ancestors.

They are then accepted, and it is done so in every coven.

Now to join a coven means that you are being presented to the ancestors of that coven.

This is a dangerous process if no one in your family is related to that Coven.

My father’s coven joined with mine when they got married.

Had his coven been separate from that of my mother’s then I would have joined his instead.

Almost everyone that is closely related to me is part of that coven.

Some are far away, living their lives but they are part of that coven.

Not only that, but if the ancestors of that Coven were somewhat not chummy with the ancestors

of your previous Coven then they can kill you.

And chances of that happening are high since witches have been fighting among themselves for

years.

“What? So you are telling me that there is no other choice?” he asked me and I nodded.

“Not one that I could think of. It’s hard being a supernatural being, that is why rouge werewolves

sometimes forever stay that way. It’s hard to find a pack or a coven,” I explained in terms he could

attend.

He seemed to be deep in thought and I just sighed as I sat down.

“Actually, you are wrong about that,” he said and I looked at him confused.

“My being Alpha benefits the two of us,” he said and I looked at him confused.

“And how does it?” I asked him and he chuckled.

“If I am Alpha, then Dante will be nothing. Which means it won’t be necessary for him to have kids,”

he pointed out.

“Which means I would not be needed at all,” I added.

“Exactly,” he answered and I looked at him.

“But how do you plan on doing that? How do you plan on being Alpha?” I asked him.

He looked at me as if trying to tell if I could be trusted or not.

I have lived among humans as a witch and I have had to pretend for most days.

There were times when I would use magic to heal a patient and when everyone was surprised I

acted along with them.

I have become a very good actor and I intend to use my acting skills.

What he did was murder because someone died because of his actions.

And now I understand how he could have known the truth.

But exposing him would also mean exposing Sasha.

Should I do it or just let things go?

She is still my sister and from what I picked up about Dante is that he is unforgiving.

He won’t forgive her, she put his pack members in trouble.

Not only that, but she didn’t tell him the truth when everything was revealed.

She could have told him when he found out that I was doing all the work.

But that would have probably pissed him even more.

Sasha is my sister, I do not intend on ruining her life.

But the truth is that the truth can’t be hidden for too long.

Now what do I do?

Should I use the easy way even if it means the destruction of my sister’s life?
