Dante’s pov

“How could you let him near her?” Onyx asked me.

“You heard her plan, and she will help us get rid of him for good this time,” I answered.

“I don’t mind having him around. But letting him be around Jade was a bad idea, what if he does

something to her?” Onyx asked me.

“Let’s trust Jade, nothing will happen,” I said and heard as Onyx scoffed at this.

I also don’t like the idea that they are together.

I hate that I won’t be able to walk her back home and with him around I can’t just go to her office.

I know that this facade will only last a week but i feel like it is too long.

I caught Jade’s scent and I heard as Stephen was laughing at something she said.

I walked out of my office and from the stairs I could see them talking.

Stephen looked up at me and I watched how he smirked.

Jade’s eyes also landed on mine and she looked at Stephen.

“Let’s go from here,” she said to him and I watched as they walked off.

It’s all just part of the plan and nothing else.

But I hate this plan with everything inside me.

And this is just the beginning of the plan.

What will happen when the second stage starts?

“I hate the second stage, let’s kill Stephen and end it here,” Onyx said and I shook my

head.

“We can’t go around killing people, as an Alpha there are rules and we need to follow them,” I explained but he wasn’t happy.

If I went according to Onyx then I would have killed a lot of people by now.

The other day he wanted to kill the cook because we saw him handing Jade food.

She smiled and he got so angry and wanted to kill the chef.

I had to explain that Jade was only smiling because of the food.

I went back to my office and as I tried to busy myself there was a knock on the door.

“Come in,” I said to Sasha who walked in with a smile on her face.

She had a tray of food in her hands and she walked up to me.

“I thought you would be hungry,” she said and then put it on the desk.

“Thank you,” I answered and she just kept staring at me.

“Is there anything left?” I asked her and she shook her head.

“Are we okay? I mean is everything okay with us?” she asked me and I looked at her confused.

“Why wouldn’t it be?” I asked her and watched how she sighed.

“You have been distant lately. I thought you forgave me,” she said and I nodded.

“I did forgive you, I said that already,” I retorted and she looked at me with tears in her eyes.

“Then why do I feel like I am losing you?” she asked me.

“You are not losing me, I am here,” I answered and she just started crying.

She walked towards me and went down on her knees and held my hand.

“Please, don’t leave me,” she said and I looked at her confused.

“Leave you, what are you talking about?” I asked her and she sighed.

“I know I can’t give you kids. Ever since you found out that news you have been distant,” she

explained.

She took off her wedding ring and put it on the desk.

“They say that if you love someone let them go. I really want to be selfish and beg you not to leave me. But at the same time I want what is best for you,” she said.

She looked at me and then smiled a little.

“I guess I am no longer what is best for you,” she said and got up.

She was about to leave but I held her hand to stop her.

“You are my mate, I said that I would take care of you for the rest of your life. I said that you would live in this house with me. You and I said till death do us part,” I said and she turned around to look

at me.

“You are not leaving me?” she asked me and I shook my head.

“Thank you,” she said and threw her hands around me to hug me.

Why? Why did reassuring her feel wrong?

Why did the ’till death do us part’ part feel wrong?

Mr Jones advised me to listen to my heart but I don’t know how to do that.

How does one listen to their heart?

I have these two voices inside me.

One is telling me that I need to be a man of my word and fulfil my duty as someone’s mate.

But another one is telling me to be selfish, to stop overthinking, and just go with the flow.

Even if this flow is leading me to someone who isn’t my mate.

Even if this flow is leading me into the arms of my sister-in-law who is now my wife.

“I need to finish my work,” I said to Sasha who nodded.

She took her ring and put it on and then walked away.

I looked at my empty hand, I haven’t been wearing my wedding ring for days now.

“Is everything okay?” Felix asked and I nodded.

We did our work and soon it was time for dinner.

I went downstairs and found Stephen chatting away and laughing as well.

“I won that race as well. Ask Dante, he will tell you that I always win,” he added as he looked at me

with a smug smile.

“What is this Jade?” I asked Jade who looked at me confused.

“What is what?” she asked and I scoffed at this.

“You are my wife and this guy is the enemy. Why are you busy talking to him like you are friends?” I

asked her.

“And why are you talking to me like I am something you own? You can’t tell me who I can or can’t

talk to,” Jade retorted.

“I can, you are my wife,” I retorted and Stephen chuckled.

“Not for long though, once I become Alpha then you will be nothing to this pack and to her,” Stephen retorted.

“So that is why you are back huh?” Mom asked him and he nodded.

“I am here to take what is rightfully mine,” Stephen answered.

“And how do you even plan on doing that? By trying to seduce my wife?” I asked him with a

chuckle.

“I have an alliance with one of the strongest covens in our land. You think you can take my place as Alpha?” I asked him.

“Not only that, but Jade is my wife. She still has to give me a child even if I am not Alpha. If you break it then you will die,” I said to Jade.

I watched as she looked at Stephen helplessly and I wanted to laugh.

So instead I looked down, I didn’t want anyone to see my smile.

“The only way to free her is if you get yourself an alliance with her coven as well. But how will you

do that?” I asked him.

I watched as Stephen looked at me and he smirked like he just got a great idea.

He suddenly got up and walked towards Jade.

“So this alliance, all one needs is to marry a daughter of their family?” Stephen asked.

I watched as he knelt in front of Jade and then smiled looking at me.

“You and me, you were strong enough to be named the future coven leader. He is holding you hostage because of this alliance and is keeping you as his mistress,” Stephen said and then looked

at Jade.

“You are beautiful, intelligent, and from what I have seen kind. You would make a great Luna,” he added and everyone gasped at this.

“What are you trying to say?” Jade asked him.

“Think about it, if you mate with me and marry me. I will have better chances of being Alpha and he

will lose this alliance he is so proud of. You will be Luna and also still be part of your pack,” he

explained and Jade looked around the room.

“Are you saying you want to marry and mate with me?” she asked him and he nodded.

“Yes, Jade Bennett will you marry me?” he asked her.

I slammed my hands on the table and got up.

I walked towards them and pushed Stephen as far away from her as possible.

I grabbed Jade and threw her on my shoulder and walked off. She was screaming and cursing as I

walked away with her.

I turned to stare at Stephen who had a smirk on his face as he was looking at me.

I walked off and when I got to our room I locked the door and threw Jade on the bed.

She looked at me and smiled.

“I told you it would work,” she said and then pulled me closer to her.

“You did your part really well. You actually seemed like an angry and jealous husband, I didn’t know you were such a great actor,” she added.

“I wasn’t acting, I really want to gouge out his eyes for looking at you,” I answered her.

“Your plan worked perfectly, what now?” I asked her and she just shrugged.

“We wait and see,” she answered and I nodded.

“While we are doing that, I am allowed to kiss my wife right?” I asked her and she chuckled.

“I am shocked that you haven’t yet,” she retorted.

I didn’t waste any time and captured her lips.

This feeling, what is this feeling in my chest?
