Chapter 87: Stars and the moon
Dante’s pov
I looked around the table and I found myself smiling.
The room was filled with laughter as everyone was eating.

Mom invited Mr and Mrs Jones, they grew up together and have been friends since they were kids.
To them, this is almost like a little reunion and they seem so happy remembering the old days.
“Come on, the two of you need to go to sleep,” Tia said to Grace and Jordan.
Her mate joined her as they went to get the kids ready for bed.
I looked at Jade who was still busy listening to the stories.
I yawned but she didn’t even look my way.
I tapped her leg with my hand and she looked at me.
“You want more wine?” she asked me as she poured me more wine.
I took a sip and sighed as I looked around the table.
Why can’t she understand that I want us to go to bed?
Not to sleep, but it is late and we should be going.
I yawned one more time and all eyes in the room turned to me.
“You should go to sleep, that is about the fourth time you are yawning,” Mrs Jones pointed out.
“Yes, it is late and I should get to sleep,” I said and got up.
I looked at Jade who was still seated and looking at my Dad who went ahead with his story.
She started laughing and I found myself smiling.
I like seeing her laugh but I also want a reason to smile and that can only happen if she joins me in
the bedroom.
“What is wrong son?” Mom asked me and I just shook my head.
“Nothing, I am going to sleep,” I said and looked at Jade.
“Aren’t you coming?” I asked her and she shook her head.
“I want to hear how the story ends,” she answered.

“What? I know my Dad, he is going to talk like that all night. The man can’t get straight to the point,”
I said.
“Hey, you don’t have to attack me. Jade, would you like to hear another really long story?” Dad
asked Jade with a smirk.
“Yes sir, don’t listen to him. You are a great storyteller,” Jade said with a smile.
“Okay, then shall I tell you that story of the day I was made Alpha? It is really funny,” Dad said but his
eyes were on me.
“Yes,” Jade said innocently like she couldn’t see that he was only using her to piss me off.
Everyone on the table had smiles because they could see what was going on.
For someone who is very smart, Jade can be oblivious.
“Oh yes, I would like to tell the story of the day Felix was born,” Mrs Jones added.
“I am sure she doesn’t want to hear that Mom,” Felix said to his mother.
“But I do, I want all the details, I am sure Jade feels the same,” Addison said with a smirk as she
looked at me.
“Yes, I also do have a few questions for you Mrs Jones,” Jade’ said gently.
“You do, you can ask as many questions as you want,” Mrs Jones said.
“Enough, I am tired and I need to sleep. We are going to bed,” I said taking Jade’s hand.
“Why are you dragging me along? Go alone,” she said and everyone nodded.
“Yes brother, go alone,” Nick said with a chuckle.
I took Jade and threw her over my shoulder and then smiled.
“Goodnight everyone,” I said and she was kicking and yelling as I was leaving with her.
She gave up and heard her say a little embarrassed.
“Good night,” she said and everyone burst out laughing at this.
When we got to the room I threw her on the bed and looked at her face.
Her entire face was red as she looked at me.
“Did you have to do that? Now everyone is going to know what we are going to do,” she said and I
chuckled at this.
“And what is that? We are only here to sleep,” I said and she rolled her eyes at this.

“Honestly, today I just want us to sit and talk. Can we do that?” I asked her and she nodded.
She then walked to the doors of the balcony and then walked out.
“How about we do it here?” she asked me and I nodded.
She lay down on the floor and I followed and did the same thing.
“I love stars,” she said and I smiled at this.
“I love the moon,” I informed her, and she was quiet for a second.
“I hate the moon. It always stresses me out,” she said after some time.
I could tell that it was hard for her to open up and tell me this but I was grateful that she did.

“Do you know, I wanted to be an astronaut growing up,” I said and she looked at me surprised.
“Really? Why?” she asked me and I chuckled a bit at this.
“It’s a little embarrassing,” I said and then looked at her.
She is the one person I feel I can tell all my burdens to.
I cried in front of her, no one in my entire family has ever seen me cry.
“Well, growing up we heard stories about the moon goddess and how beautiful she was. And that she lived on the moon,” I said and Jade suddenly burst out laughing.
“You wanted to go to the moon to see the moon goddess?” she asked me, I nodded and she looked at me intrigued.
“There is more isn’t there?” she asked me and I nodded.
“I also wanted to ask her to marry me,” I said and she just continued laughing when she heard this.
I looked at her, that sound was music to my ears.
I love hearing her laugh, I love seeing the joy on her face.
“My dad once bought me this astronaut helmet and I refused to take it off. Mom once took a photo of me wearing it while in the bathtub,” I added and she continued laughing.
I watched how she held her stomach as if it was hurting.
I watched how she got up and I looked at her confused.
“Where are you going?” I asked her.
“To ask your mom to show me the photo,” she said and I just shrugged.

“She doesn’t have it anymore, I stole it a long time ago and then put it in a safe in my office,” I said
and she frowned at this.
“But I will show it to you,” I said and she smiled at this and led the way to my office.
I opened my safe and took out the photo.
She looked at it and instead of laughing she just smiled.
“I hope our kid takes after you,” she suddenly said. I felt my heart stop, our kid.
“No, I want them to take after you. Be as cute and as kind as you,” I said and she looked at me.
“Well, let’s hope they are smarter and don’t want to marry the moon goddess,” she retorted and started laughing again.
What is this feeling? This joy?
