Chapter 9: Protect
Dante’s pov
Jade took a knife that was in her pocket and then started drawing symbols on her hand.
There was blood on her hand as she was doing this.
A scroll appeared out of nowhere, and I heard people gasped.
“You know how to draw a blood contract? Even I can’t do that,” Emily Hale said.
“She can, thanks to my training,” Samantha Hale said.
I looked at Jade, who didn’t say anything but seemed focused on what she was doing.
She then placed the hand with the symbol, and then she looked around the room.
“If my mother or anyone breaks the terms on this agreement, then everyone in this room will
die,” she informed.
I looked around the room, and everyone had their hearts in their hands.
“Wait, what do you mean by everyone?” Uncle asked her.
“It means that everyone here will die,” Jay the youngest said.
“You thought you had rights to decide my future. Now i can also decide yours,” she added.
“I didn’t sign up for this,” Uncle said and got up to leave.
As he reached the door, something suddenly pushed him back in.
He hit the nearest wall, and I watched as he frowned.
“Once the spell starts, then no one can leave the room,” Jay informed.
“There is no getting out of this,” Mrs Hale said.
“You trapped us,”Sasha said, and Jade looked at her.
“You mean the same way you trapped me?” Jade asked.
“Come on, Samantha, sign,” she said, talking to her mother.
Mrs Hale walked towards her and did the same with a knife.
When it was done, the scroll suddenly turned into ash.

The dark aura that was in the room disappeared.
“It’s done. The wedding ceremony will be tomorrow,” Mrs Hale said.

“I am really sorry that I had to put you into such an uncomfortable situation. Please forgive me, sister,” Sasha said to Jade.
“To make it up to you, I have a beautiful wedding gown in my room just for you. It was my second option, and it’s really pretty. Will you wear it tomorrow for your wedding?” She asked Jade.
“Didn’t you hear what I said? You are nothing to me now. You already borrowed me your mate, so I don’t need your borrowed dress,” Jade said. Her eyes landed on me, and she sighed.
“Can I talk to you, Alpha Dante?” She asked me, and I nodded.
She went out and I looked around the room.
All eyes were on me.
I followed her out, and she walked towards the garden.
She stopped, and without turning to look at me, she spoke up.
“I know it’s highly impossible. But if you do have the marriage documents, can we please sign them today?” She asked me.
“I do have them, I will mindlink Felix to bring them here,” I said, and she turned around.
“Could you please ask him to bring Jay as well?” She asked, and I nodded.
I did as she asked, and she sat down on the grass.
“I am sorry for calling you a weak and incapable leader,” she said and then sighed.
“You were only doing what is best for your pack,” she added.
“I am sorry that what is best for the pack isn’t what is best for you,” I said, and she just
sighed.
“That’s okay, It’s not your job to protect me,” she said, and I sat down.
“The moment we sign those papers, it will be my responsibility and top priority,” I said, and she looked at me.
I couldn’t tell what she was thinking and she looked up.
“Don’t make empty promises, Alpha,” she said with a sigh.

Chapter 9 Protect
Felix came to the garden running and with Jay behind him.
“Sister, are you okay?” Jay asked Jade,
“Let’s just sign, Jay, you will sign as my witness,” Jade said,
I could see the sadness in her brother’s face.
He truly cares about her, more than anyone in her family, it seems,
We all signed, and I gave the document to Felix.
“Go and get it filed tomorrow,” I said, and he nodded.
Jade walked away without another word, and Jay just stood there.
“Take care of her, please,” he begged me, and I nodded.
“I know Sasha is your mate, and because of that, you are not capable of loving another woman. Even if you won’t see her as a wife, see her as a friend,” he added.
“You have my word, your sister shall never want again,” I said, and he nodded.
He walked away, leaving me with Felix, whose eyes were on me.
“I saw you,” he said, and I looked at him confused.
“How worried you were when she walked in all covered in blood,” he explained.
“When someone sees blood, that is kind of the automatic response,” I replied, and he nodded.
“How about when she was crying? I saw how you caught one of her tears,” he said, and I frowned.
Was he just staring at every little thing I was doing.
“You were angry with me when I spoke to her that way. Even though I was defending your honor,” he added.
“I don’t know what you feel for her. But I know that you feel something and she wasn’t wrong. If you wanted, then this matter wouldn’t have reached this far. You didn’t have to marry her,” he said and then chuckled.
“When we bought up the prospect of a second wife, you nearly bit off our heads. But you were so willing to marry her,” he added and then walked off.
Was I really willing to marry her?

Chapter 9 Protect
Didn’t I do it because it’s the right thing to do?
It is for my brothers, my mate who wants to be a mother and my pack.
Jade was also willing. Yes, she was threatened, but she agreed.
And I am not the one that threatened her. Her mother did it.
I walked to Sasha’s room, and along the way was Jade’s room.
The door was slightly open, and she was on the bed sleeping.
Her father was sitting near her bed doing something to her forehead.
His eyes landed on me, and he walked out, closing the door.
“She suffers from nightmares and night terrors. This helps her sleep,” he said and wiped away his tears.
He showed me what looked like a small lotion in his hands.

“Rub this on her forehead every night. I will send even more to your pack,” he said to me, and I
nodded.
“I know that you can never love her since you already love Sasha. But please take care of my daughter,” he said, and I nodded.
As he was walking away, something bothered me.
He spoke about loving Sasha.
She is my mate, and because of that, I feel drawn to her.
I feel the need to protect her and be there for her.
But would I go as far as calling it love?

Chapter 10: Old Habits
Jade’s pov
I opened my eyes and looked around the room.
I looked at the clock, and it was 3 AM. It’s scary how old habits die hard.
I have been away from home for 6 years, and yet every time I come back, I still wake up at the time I always used to wake up in.
Imagine being 10 years old and waking up at 3 am. or 4 am. every day except for Sundays.
That is how my schedule had been for 8 years. I was training under my mother.
I got changed, as I was leaving my room I found something on the ground.
It was a bag and I opened and inside it was a wedding dress and a note.
“Please wear this for me, I know you are angry, but every girl dreams of the day she gets married. Please, little sister, love Sasha,” the note concluded.
I looked at the dress, and I felt this hate and anger fill me.
She is a fault for this, she is the reason I have found myself in this situation.
I took the bag and dressed to my room and got a pair of scissors and started cutting it up.
When it was nothing but shreds, I decided to write a note of my own.
“Since you gave me the dress, then it’s mine to do with it what I want. Thank you, older sister, Love Jade,” I wrote and then put back the bag where I found it.
I went for a quick run, then came back and took a shower.
I opened the door and found Jay waiting there.
“It’s 4am. What around doing here?” I asked him.
He was all dressed up and just shrugged at this.
“I knew that you wouldn’t want to participate in this nonsense today and would leave,” he
said.
“What does that have to do with you?” I asked him, and he smiled.
“Come on, I will be spending the day with you,” he said, and I frowned, shaking my head.
