The Alpha King here? At an event being thrown by a distant relative.

Actually, a very distant relative when he doesn’t attend events thrown by Alphas with more power

and influence than me.

He is the most important man in our world and he is here tonight.

I don’t think he was even invited because it would have been just a waste.

“That’s the Alpha King, let’s go to him,” Sasha said and she dragged me towards him.

I frowned when she stood right in front of Jade and bowed her head to the Alpha King.

I did the same and then looked up at the old man.

“Dante, you have grown into such a handsome young man,” he said with a smile as he looked at

“Thank you Alpha,” I said and he then looked at Sasha.

“You look just like your mother,” he said to her and she smiled at this.

“I am Sasha Odell, I am his mate and Luna,” she introduced herself!

“And this is my wife, Jade,” I said removing Jade from behind Sasha.

“Jade, your wife doesn’t need an introduction,” the Alpha King as he looked at her.

I looked at Jade and expected her to bow but she didn’t.

“I am Howard,” the Alpha King said extending his hand to her. I watched as Jade shook his head

and then she smiled.

“I am Jade,” she introduced and I watched as people who were familiar with her chuckled.

“I see you are a girl of a few words,” he said and I watched as he stepped towards her.

He extended his hand as if he wanted to touch her face but I blocked his hand.

He looked at me and then smiled before lowering his hand.

“I am sorry Dante, I just wanted to be sure I wasn’t dreaming,” he said and I looked at him

confused.

“Why would you be dreaming?” Jade asked him.

“It’s because you are a spitting image of her. I thought you resembled her when you were young

but now it feels like I am standing right in front of her,” he answered.

“In front of who?” I asked him and he just chuckled.

“Stop laughing and just answer the question old man, who am I spitting image of?” Jade asked him

annoyed.

I watched as everyone around held their hearts in their heads.

She just called the Alpha King old man and her tone wasn’t exactly respectful.

I looked at Jade, yes she was not a werewolf but that shouldn’t matter.

When it comes to the Aura of an Alpha or an Alpha King, even humans can sense it.

You might not understand why you are feeling that way but you do.

You just have this fear and respect inside you for an Alpha.

Then how is it that it seems that his aura doesn’t get to her?

“Howard, if I didn’t know any better I would say that you are bored,” Mrs Bennett said as she

walked towards us.

“Well Samantha, I just had to come and see it with my own eyes,” he said and then looked at Jade

and then me.

“It’s a miracle, isn’t it? I have seen it more times than I can count and even I can’t believe it,” Mrs

Bennett answered.

“Mom, what is going on here?” Sasha asked her mother.

“Nothing you should concern yourself about,” her mother answered.

We stood there and were chatting away with the Alpha King.

It was mostly about the benefits that this alliance has brought.

I looked at Jade and I could tell that she was bored already.

“Jade, do you find me boring? I mean you seemed bored,” the Alpha King said.

“Yes,” Jade answered bluntly.

“It’s not just you, it’s the music and the atmosphere. I just feel like vomiting,” Jade added and the

old man chuckled.

“I must admit you are right, this doesn’t feel like a party. I would know, growing up I was once the

life of the party,” the Alpha King retorted.

“Yeah right, every old bat thinks that they were cool when growing up,” Jade retorted and he laughed at this.

Is he always this carefree or is it because it’s Jade?

“Well, how about you join me in a song?” he asked her.

“Unfortunately Jade can’t sing to save her life,” Sasha interrupted.

“What are you talking about? Jade has been taking vocal lessons ever since she was 10,” Mrs

Bennett said.

“I would love that,” Jade said and I watched as she and the Alpha King walked to the stage.

“What did you say? Jade has been taking vocal lessons?” Sasha asked her mother.

“Yes, Jade is good at everything,” her mother answered.

“What do you mean everything?” Sasha asked her mother who sighed.

“She can sing, dance, paint, and play almost any instrument. You are her older sister, shouldn’t you

know this?” her mother asked her.

I looked at Sasha and I really couldn’t understand her at all. After hearing this she had this massive

frown on her face.

She just realized that her little sister has been limiting herself so she doesn’t outshine her.

I found myself smiling as they started playing and Jade was singing and playing a guitar in the

process.

I watched as the whole place that was dying came back to life.

I looked at the Alpha King, he was playing a guitar with my wife and was hard rock.

As I was looking around my eyes landed on Mrs Bennett.

She had this massive smile on her face as she was looking at Jade.

Wait, but I thought she was completely heartless.

I mean she did threaten to kill Jade back then if she didn’t agree to this marriage.

But now looking at her, she seemed like a mother, actually happy that her daughter was smiling

and dancing around.

My eyes landed on Sasha whose face was getting redder by the second and her eyes getting

Life is weird, isn’t it?

I always thought that Mrs Bennett was somewhat the villain.

I thought her daughters were just victims of her abuse and maybe they were.

But now looking at things, she isn’t the biggest villain in all of this.

I will acknowledge that I am not a saint at all.

I fell in love with someone I shouldn’t have and I broke my mate’s heart.

But at the same time, I realized that Sasha never really loved or cared about her younger sister.

When Jade was forced to marry me, she was angry and I could tell.

But she never really hated her sister for it, she was just angry and hurt.

It is possible to feel those two emotions without feeling hate.

But the moment Sasha did they all immediately turned into hatred.

The music stopped and I heard Felix chuckle as his wife climbed on the stage to perform as well.

The Alpha King came and stood next to me.

“Could you excuse us for a second?” he asked Sasha who nodded.

“I was surprised when I found out that the older sister was your mate,” he said and I looked at him

confused.

“What do you mean by the older sister?” I asked him and he just shrugged.

“I just assumed, I think we all did that Jade would be the one who turns out to be your mate,” he

answered.

He then sighed looking at Jade and then back at me.

“But what do you know? Fate has a way of bringing people together,” he added.

What the hell?

Who is we?

And why were they assuming that Jade was my mate?
