Chapter 133 She’s a Monster

Tears tinted Stella’s delicate features with a soft flush, making her already lovely face look even more radiant and flawless.
Jasper watched the scene unfold in a daze. For the first time, he stayed completely unresponsive, even as Stella sobbed until she struggled to breathe.
Timothy spoke in a cold, stern tone instead. “Margaret, as the elder sister, you must always give way to your younger sister, no matter what quarrel comes between you. How could you ever raise your hand against her? You two are blood sisters–do you have no sense of propriety at all?”
At those words, Margaret slowly lifted her head. “I ask for your forgiveness, Father. I am solely to blame for what happened today.”
Everyone in the hall froze the second she raised her face.
A large dark bruise covered most of her forehead, as if she’d banged her head harshly over and over.
Fresh blood streaked across her cheeks, and a drop of crimson blood hung beneath her nostrils. The moment she tilted her head up, it fell onto her plain white gown, blooming into a striking red stain on the fabric.
Jasper rose to his feet at once. “Margaret, you…”
Margaret cut him off before he could finish, bowing her head low once more, “It is all my fault. Any hurt Stella suffers is always my fault. I have said time and again that I never laced her soup with anything harmful. No matter how harshly she strikes me, I deserve every bit of it. I was in the wrong from the start. Please punish me as you see fit, Father.”
Sharp anger surged in Jasper’s chest. He turned a fierce glare toward Stella. “Stella, how could you hurt her so badly?”
Stella froze on the spot, stunned by his outburst.
She had barely processed Margaret’s sudden admission of guilt, and being scolded by Jasper left her utterly dumbfounded.
She even wondered frantically if he had shouted at the wrong person.
Even Timothy sat rooted in place, clearly shocked to see Margaret bearing real injuries instead of Stella.
Stella wiped her tears in confusion. “Jasper, I never laid a hand on her. I did not fight back once. She pinned me to the ground and slapped my face dozens of times, yet I endured it all without resistance. I swear this is the truth.”
She shot a sharp look at Nadia, silently urging the maid to back up her lies.
But Nadia could only stare at Stella’s clear, unmarked face, darting her eyes in a frantic, silent warning.
Stella finally realized the truth when she locked eyes with Margaret’s bloodied face.

She stared at Margaret in pure terror. “Where did this blood come from? I never touched you, not even for a second. How could you bleed so heavily? You’re cruel and shameless.”
Pieces clicked into place in her mind.
She remembered Margaret pricking her own forehead with an acupuncture needle earlier, along with those cryptic words about beauty acupuncture.
Nadia’s panicked expression makes perfect sense now. That needle spell erased every bruise and mark from my skin.
Then she remembered how Margaret had just pricked a needle into her own face.
Right after that, Nadia had shoved her aside.
The path had only dim lantern light, so she had not seen Margaret’s self–inflicted injuries clearly.
Nadia couldn’t make out whether there were any injuries on her face either.
Now, inside the brightly lit main hall, every detail was laid bare for everyone to see.
