At that point, Robin gave a smile. “From that moment on, I knew you didn’t really love him that much. But honestly? You’re a lot like me. And only a woman with that kind of spirit is worthy of me.
“But then–after you came back–no matter how many times I asked you out, you kept turning me down. And now you’re telling me you’ve liked me all along? What am I supposed to do with that? You’re so heartless and fake–I like you even more.”

Her secret thoughts being laid bare in front of him, Stella’s face turned terrible. “I don’t know what you’re talking about, Robin. I’m not like that.”
“Whether you are or not doesn’t matter. As long as that pretty face of yours stays the same, I’ll still like you.” He reached out and touched her hair. “You know, I’ve never seen you bald. Why don’t you just take it all off?”
Stella went pale. She quickly shielded her head. “Robin, don’t.”
“Don’t be silly, Stella. Didn’t I just say? I’d still like you even if you had no hair.” He leaned in slowly. “Besides, wouldn’t that be a different kind of charm?”
Crazy.
Prince Robin is a madman.
This was the first time Stella had been this close to him–and already, regret crept into her heart.
She never knew that the man who once acted so deeply in love could turn out to be such a lunatic behind closed doors.
Stella quickly stood up. “I’ve been gone too long. I should
go back-”
Before she could finish, Robin reached out, grabbed her, and pulled her right into his arms.
He said, “Why the rush? It’s already the middle of the night. Just stay here. Outside, they’re holding the Lantern Fair–all the noble lords are out enjoying the lights. I heard your brother’s there, too. And your father? He’s got important business tonight and won’t be home. So really, whether you go back or not, it doesn’t matter.
As he spoke, he buried his face in her neck and breathed her in deeply. “You smell so good, Stella. I’ve wanted to hold you like this for a long time–but I never got the chance. Tonight, it’s just you and me. One room. A good night like this. Why not just have a little fun together?”
Stella frowned. “Robin, let go of me. I’m about to marry Crown Prince Christopher-”
Robin smiled, “As I said, he’ll be a cripple soon. He won’t be the Crown Prince for long. Why are you so afraid of him?”
He swept her off her feet, carried her to the bed, and tossed her onto it. “Besides, didn’t you keep telling me that I’m the one you truly love? If you don’t give me something, how can I believe you?”
Robin leaned in again. “I know exactly who you are. Every little scheme in that head of yours–I see it all. You think of me as your way out. You want me to save you from this mess, to get rid of Margaret for you. That’s not a problem. Neither is you not wanting to marry a cripple.”

Still smiling, he climbed on top of her and started tugging at her belt.

Robin continued, “My soon–to–be–crippled brother Christopher won’t last long as Crown Prince. One–he doesn’t plan to make you his Crown Princess. Two–he might not even keep the title he has now. If you marry him, you’ll be walking right into the wolf’s den. But me? I’m your best choice. Stay with me, and I’ll turn everything around for you without breaking a sweat.”
Hearing every word, Stella, who had been ready to push him away, finally stopped resisting. “Robin, is that true?”
Robin smiled, “Of course, it’s true. You’re this beautiful. Marrying you and making you my Princess has always been my dream. And if you marry me, you won’t just be a Princess. You could be second only to one -and above everyone else.”
He tore her clothes open, his eyes lighting up. “It’s got to be Stella. So beautiful…”
Stella murmured, “Mmm… Robin… easy…”
“Easy? How’s that going to feel good for you?” He gave a wicked grin. “I know exactly what you want. And you know what I want. We’re a perfect match. Your first choice was wrong from the start. Yeah, that feels good.”
