Separate Weddings, Separate Lives novel Chapter 48

Louisa's first reaction was to hang up, but before she could grab her phone, Elijah had already picked up the call.

"Lou," Thaddeus' slightly raspy, low voice called out. He sounded as if he had been drinking.

However, she was clearly not in the right state to be talking to him. She was still trying her best to hang up, but she felt something pressing against her lips. Elijah's cold, woody scent had completely enveloped her.

The hand she had reached out to hang up the call froze in midair as she stared at the man kissing her with wide eyes.

His kiss was domineering and forceful. It was as if he was literally trying to take her breath away.

"Louisa? Are you there, Louisa? What are you doing?" Thaddeus didn't hear Louisa's reply, but he could hear her suppressed noises. He was so familiar with every part of her that he could already tell what was happening.

Louisa finally came to her senses. She had already understood why Elijah was kissing her that way. He did it on purpose so that Thaddeus could hear them.

An indescribable feeling of humiliation caused Louisa to lift her hand again and try to shove Elijah away.

However, the more Louisa struggled, the more Elijah forced his lips on hers. His hands had begun to creep toward her waist.

A restrained whimper from Louisa escaped from between their locked lips.

Suddenly, a clear snap echoed through the room, which had become pitch black. Elijah had turned the lights off like she had asked him to do, and the only light in the room was coming from her glaring phone screen.

The call was still ongoing, and she could hear Thaddeus breaking down on the other side. "Elijah, I'm going to kill you."

From his words, Louisa could tell that Thaddeus already knew what was going on. Good!

She suddenly stopped struggling, allowing Elijah to do whatever he wanted to her. However, not only did he stop just then, but he also reached out and hung up the call.

The only remaining light in the room had disappeared, magnifying the sound of their ragged breathing.

"Why did you stop, Mr. Halton?" The rebellious streak in Louisa and her obvious rage showed itself in her spiteful tone.

Elijah stared into her deep gaze. "Do you want me to continue?"
