She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 121

Ever since Abby Corbett arrived at the archery range, Caspian Sterling seemed to lose all interest in shooting.

His expression remained dark, every arrow he loosed flying into the target like a violent release of pent-up frustration.

Hulda Atherton couldn't be bothered to figure out what was suddenly wrong with the man. He had always been overly temperamental anyway.

Once Caspian emptied his quiver, she walked over to retrieve the arrows.

"Are you going to keep playing?" she asked.

If he wanted to continue, she would wait. If not, she was going to grab lunch with Abby.

Caspian glared down at Hulda, opening his mouth as if to say something, but ultimately spitting out two cold words: "I'm done."

Hulda raised an eyebrow. "Alright then. We're going to get food."

With that, she grabbed Abby's arm and walked out of the archery range without a second glance.

Caspian hadn't expected the woman to walk away so cleanly. He let out a dark, breathless laugh, his eyes locking intensely onto the hand Hulda was using to pull Abby along.

Dylan jogged over, wiping sweat from his forehead. "Boss, I've already rented out the entire horseback riding arena for this afternoon. Don't worry, we still have another chance."

Caspian pulled his gaze away, flashing Dylan a completely hollow smile. "Why would I be worried? What kind of chance do I need?"

Dylan was speechless.

The man threw his bow to the side, turned on his heel, and strode away.

Watching his boss's retreating figure, Dylan let out a long sigh.

Right, boss. Keep denying it...

Sylvie hurried to keep up, adopting a guilty, remorseful tone. "For a company retreat like today, you really should have brought Mrs. Jewell along. Having her by your side to help manage things would have looked much more official and proper."

Herbert furrowed his brows at the suggestion. "Hulda doesn't understand any of this. What could she possibly help with here, other than enjoying the luxury?"

The whole point of organizing this retreat was to boost company morale. What good would a housewife who revolved around the kitchen and a child do here?

He looked down at Sylvie, noticing the young woman's downcast demeanor. Guessing she was still upset over Caspian's harsh words in the lobby earlier, his expression softened.

He affectionately patted her back. "Don't overthink things. You are my most capable assistant. There are many things only you can help me with, things even Victor Yates can't handle. As for Hulda, she absolutely couldn't."

Words like that were the ultimate validation of Sylvie's importance by Herbert's side.

Sweeping the gloom from her face, the young woman nodded firmly. "Mhm! I understand. I definitely won't let you down, Mr. Jewell!"
