Infected by Sylvie's enthusiasm, Herbert felt his stress melt away significantly. "What's on the schedule after lunch?"
"Everyone will head back to their rooms to rest for a bit, then we have free time this afternoon. But toward sunset, I've booked a yacht to take us out on the water. I heard there's a wild, undeveloped island in this area with breathtaking views," Sylvie explained, practically glowing as she detailed the itinerary.
"An undeveloped island? Will it be safe?" Herbert asked.
"It will be! I've already looked it up online. Even though it's wild, plenty of tourists have gone there. It's totally safe, and the scenery is gorgeous. Watching the sunset from out there is going to be incredibly romantic!" As she spoke, Sylvie's mind filled with the image of her and Herbert standing shoulder-to-shoulder, bathed in the golden glow of the setting sun.
Herbert didn't particularly care about watching sunsets, but seeing the girl this excited made him indulge her. "Alright. Since you're in charge of the itinerary, we'll go with your plan."
At that moment, several H&J Technologies employees noticed Herbert and Sylvie lingering near the entrance and came over to check on them.
"Mr. Jewell, Ms. Sinclair, what are you two chatting about over here?"
"Oh, nothing. We were just talking about taking the yacht out this evening," Sylvie replied with a radiant smile.
Her beaming face made the others feel as refreshed as a spring breeze.
Hearing they were going out on the water later, the group's excitement spiked.
...
That afternoon, Hulda had planned to rest in her room and avoid the scorching sun.
Instead, her plans were ruined when Caspian summoned her to the horseback riding arena.
Fortunately, the facility had both an indoor and outdoor section. The man was evidently just as averse to the sun, opting for the indoor track.
It was so visually pleasing that, even knowing the man was probably plotting some new way to torment her, Hulda found herself stealing a second glance.
Standing outside the fence, Dylan noticed Hulda's eyes finally lingering on his boss and offered a knowing, triumphant smile.
But a second later, Hulda's words completely shattered the romantic tension. "Spit it out. What do you want me to do? Play stable boy and hold your horse?"
Caspian had just walked up beside her, only to be hit with her abrasive attitude.
His grip tightened on the reins. "Hulda, can you ever just speak to me normally?"
Hulda looked back at him with genuine bewilderment, not seeing anything wrong with her question.
She was already mentally prepared to play stable hand. What else did this man want?
