It took a long time for the applause in the main hall to finally die down. Afterward, speaking as the Director of the R&D Center, Hulda officially announced the open bidding process for corporate partnerships with the Quantum Crystal Laboratory.
"The official notice has been issued. For specific requirements, please check the National Public Service Platform for Bidding and Tendering, as well as The Conrad Atherton Institute's official website. The institute will be accepting corporate applications and conducting pre-qualifications during the notice period."
Once she finished, Hulda stepped down from the podium, officially concluding what had been an absolutely spectacular press conference.
Following the conference, the institute hosted a networking reception in the banquet hall next door.
Due to his fragile health, Dr. Atherton was immediately sent back to the sanatorium upon Hulda's strict insistence the moment the event ended.
Brandon also had urgent matters to attend to and couldn't stay.
Ultimately, Hulda—the new R&D Director and the star of the conference—was left as the sole representative of the institute to host the reception.
Inside the banquet hall, Herbert had absolutely zero interest in socializing. He spent the entire time frantically scanning the crowd, desperately searching for Hulda.
Sylvie trailed quietly by his side, her lips pressed into a tight, complex frown.
Meanwhile, the bespectacled man and the other two executives were still completely reeling from the conference, engaged in fervent discussion.
"Director Atherton's presentation was mind-blowing. I never imagined someone so young could be this brilliant."
"It really was incredible. Especially the way she handled that final question—it literally gave me goosebumps."
The bespectacled man held up his phone regretfully. "If only I could have recorded it. I'd watch it on loop back at the office. It would be a massive help to our own R&D."
"Yeah, what a shame."
"Still, just being here was a huge privilege," the bespectacled man sighed, before turning to his boss. "Mr. Jewell, what exactly is your relationship with Director Atherton? How do you guys know each other?"
The sheer shock of the press conference was still violently tearing through his reality.
He never, in his wildest dreams, could have imagined this.
His wife of seven years, Hulda Atherton, was not only Dr. Atherton's most prized protégé and the Director of the R&D Center, but also the sole creator of the Quantum Crystal Oscillator Gyroscope—his absolute last lifeline.
All he wanted right now was to find her and demand answers.
Just then, the banquet hall suddenly buzzed with excitement as everyone's attention shifted toward the grand entrance.
Following the crowd's gaze, Herbert instantly spotted her.
She was still wearing the same elegant outfit from the conference. Under the brilliant chandeliers of the banquet hall, the diamond brooch on her chest sparkled magnificently, making the woman wearing it look even more breathtakingly radiant.
