She Quit Her Family and Found Herself novel Chapter 178

"Oh, so you're waiting for your girlfriend," Justin laughed.

Because his back was to Herbert, he had completely missed the murderous look on his friend's face.

Caspian's gaze, dark and undeniably provocative, bypassed Justin entirely and locked straight onto Herbert.

His thin lips curled into a smirk. He didn't say a word, and more importantly, he didn't deny it.

Herbert's eyes turned instantly glacial, a freezing storm brewing in his pupils.

He strode down the steps, marching straight up to Caspian. "I had no idea Mr. Sterling enjoyed playing the role of a shady homewrecker."

Justin's jaw dropped in horror. He whipped around. "Herbert, what the hell are you saying?!"

Panicking, he turned back to Caspian. "I am so sorry, Mr. Sterling. My friend has had way too much to drink."

Caspian didn't look angry. Instead, he took a slow step forward, closing the distance between him and Herbert. "You're hardly in a position to judge me right now."

The alcohol obliterated whatever restraint Herbert had left. Without a second thought, he lunged at Caspian, throwing a vicious punch right at his face.

Seeing this, Dylan's eyes sharpened, and he immediately moved to intervene. But Caspian shot him a razor-sharp glare, freezing him in his tracks, looking completely bewildered.

Herbert's fist connected, landing squarely and brutally on Caspian's jaw.

A trickle of blood immediately appeared at the corner of Caspian's mouth.

It was precisely at this moment that Hulda walked out of the restaurant.

"Are you out of your mind?! What are you doing?!" Justin shouted, horrified by Herbert's total loss of control, grabbing him and hauling him back.

Herbert ignored him, his bloodshot eyes locked dead on Caspian.

Seeing the man casually wipe the blood from his lip, an amused arch to his brow, only made Herbert's blood boil hotter.

"Herbert Jewell!" Hulda's icy voice cut through the chaos from behind them.

Justin froze first. He hadn't expected to run into her here, and this was arguably the worst possible context for a reunion.

Still, he couldn't help but stare at her.

When Hulda had gone to the front desk to pay, the staff had informed her that the bill for the entire institute had already been quietly settled by Mr. Sterling.

She raised her hand and struck Herbert across the face with everything she had.

Gasp!

Justin sucked in a sharp breath.

This was the first time in his life he had ever seen Hulda this furious. And it was certainly the first time he had ever seen her strike someone.

Most shocking of all, she had hit Herbert.

The man she had supposedly loved more than life itself.

Caspian watched Hulda with dark, intense eyes, thoroughly entertained by the spectacle.

The stinging blow momentarily knocked the drunken rage out of Herbert, leaving him staring at her with wide, bloodshot eyes.

"Are you sober now, Herbert? I have absolutely nothing to do with Caspian, but even if I did, you have zero right to question me!"

Hulda had thrown her entire weight behind that slap. Her palm was burning in agony.
